C Nikola Vucevic favorites to land with the Boston Celtics if Chicago Bulls do not resign him.

Wow

Where is this coming from?

ClutchPoints

Because we need four centers?  At this rate I feel we’re going to roll out some Tatum/Horford/Porzingis/Williams/Vucevic lineup to see what happens.

28/20 splits, favouring the All-Star Euros? I can't see it happening, nor do I think the fit is neat.

How? And why? That seems very odd.

The only thing I’ll say going for this rumor is that it doesn’t seem crazy to me that Brad could be shopping Rob, which would create room for Vucevic.

That's my read on it too. It would seem a bit odd to go from talking about doing moves to balance the roster, only to have a logjam at the big spots.

Yep.  Mostly I think it’s a nonsense rumor, but the only other possibility is that Vooch and Zinger just want to play together for a season because it’d be fun, and Vooch has made enough to take the minimum for a year.  Using the MLE on him with the gout at that position would be foolish, to say the least.

Yeah, Vuc is not signing for the minimum at 32 years old. He’s looking for that last $80-100 million dollar contract.

Trading Rob for a PG and then signing Vucevic would be interesting.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

What do we think Rob's trade value is? What kind of PG would we be getting? I have a hard time pinpointing where he sits value-wise. I love what he does on the court, and his contract is friendly, but he is very injury-prone

That would be ideal because it preserve Al and Rob. But during crunch time, I’m sure all four guys would want to be on the floor. It’s a wild rumor bit it’s nice to know that the Celtics are right there if ever Vuc becomes a free agent.

Not sure if this was mentioned before, but Jake Fischer mentioned Taurean Prince might be a FA if Minnesota decides to waive his non-guaranteed contract:

Reid, a key center in this summer’s market, returning to Minnesota has opposing executives waiting to see if the Timberwolves waive veteran wing Taurean Prince and his non-guaranteed $7.5 million salary, which would help Minnesota gain access to the full mid-level exception.

https://sports.yahoo.com/2023-nba-free-agency-with-john-collins-trade-forwards-dominating-early-discussions-151510087.html

For reference, his current deal (the one that could be waived) is for 7.65 million for 2023-24. I don't know what his market would be like but I'm guessing it is cheaper than what Grant is going to end up making.

Imagine giving up Smart to get Porzingis and then losing Rob Williams out of nowhere to make room for Vucevic.

That would be a very Brad Stevens move. Still need a backup wing and perhaps a ballhandler.

Yep, that would be right, and I’m sure he torches the Celtics in the 2024 Playoffs.
