Seems like if Mitchell were to demand a trade, the most likely landing spot would be Brooklyn. He is partial to NY (grew up in Westchester Co., my old stomping grounds), and among the obvious desirable destinations (Knicks, Heat, Nets), Nets are a combination of best fit and best assets available in a trade.

I agree with Moranis that, if we were to do a trade, I'd much prefer Garland to Mitchell. He would be a much better fit here.  It would require some adjustment by Tatum, but frankly would much prefer the offense being initiated by Garland that Tatum.  Garland plus Tatum plus Porzingis would be a very good complementary fit, more so than the current 3. I'm still against trading Brown, more for sentimental reasons, but I really like Garland.

I agree with this most of the way.  I don't want to trade Brown for Mitchell, I would rather have Brown.  Mitchell is a great player, maybe individually a little above Brown, but if better, not enough better.  He is not the guy for the Celtics team right now.  I further agree that Garland is an underappreciated player.  He is really good and as a primary ballhandler type of player, he would be a good fit on the Celtics, perhaps brings that ingredient that would be beneficial to the Celtics, that we don't have.  Tatum-Porzingis-Garland would be a good and very well balanced "big 3".  I agree with all of that.

But I would not trade Brown for Garland.  Brown is a better overall player and has more value.  So Brown for Garland + Something + Picks, sure, there is a trade possible where the value is balanced.  And depending on what the "something" is and how the picks turn out, the Celtics could end up better for the trade.  But I don't see this as likely, of course.  I don't see either team wanting to do this.

I don't think there's any chance he [Donovan Mitchell] signs an extension there [Cleveland] ever. And if it was up to me, I would trade Mitchell today.

Wonder who would (or rather, could) trade for him

If the C’s don’t win it all next season, I’d be interested in moving Brown for Mitchell.

Mitchell, White, Tatum, Zinger, Timelord. I could live with that…

We gonna get some folks wanting to run it back again for the millionth time...

Tho wouldn't mind a Brown for Mitchell trade

If we shut our eyes everytime he has to play defense this trade is great. Bottom 10 defender in the league and we would roast him here for it after like 2 weeks there would be Mitchell trade threads.
ok fine

There are a lot more than 10 players in the league who pay worse defence than Donovan Mitchell

Sounds like Lillard news is heating up again, at least that's the way it seems based on the links being posted to Reddit (though not by any national guys I recognize).

[John Gambadoro] "Damian Lillard is going to get traded very soon…I would even say probably within the next 24 hours...I am expecting a Damian Lillard trade."

Tyler Herro posted cryptic Instagram story: "Ain't no friends in this business." This follows a report saying the Lillard trade will happen in the next 24 hours.

[Danny Marang] Multiple sources have confirmed that there are on going discussions for a deal involving trading Damian Lillard before camp is underway October 2nd.

[Eric Brandt] Dame is for sure headed to Miami in the trade for those concerned.

[Bourguet] Philadelphia, Miami and Portland, as well as the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls — are heating up…and many of them view the Suns as a team that could push a potential blockbuster deal across the finish line.

[Bourguet] "Suns receiving calls on Deandre Ayton as 'dark horse team' to facilitate Damian Lillard trade. Talks are heating up around the league with teams like Portland, Miami, Philadelphia, Chicago & Toronto all very active right now. Suns could be the mystery team needed to get...deals done."

[Highkin] Can't speak to how imminent anything is but Portland has wanted to upgrade the starting center spot for a while and have had interest in Ayton in the past. Kicked the tires last spring but it was hard to make the money work with S&T rules. Not sure how it helps Phoenix.

Don't know if any of these guys are legit, and kinda hard to believe something this major could be imminent with so many teams involved without hearing something from Shams or Woj.

But it would be crazy if there was some 4 team blockbuster built around Lillard to Miami, Ayton to Portland, Herro to Philly, Harden to Phoenix or something crazy like that.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

This does seem like a lot of smoke, and it would not be surprising if POR was working hard behind the scenes to get something done before the season, so there may well be a big trade ready to go down.  This could also be just one rumor feeding into another rumor where it is all made on one report reporting on another report.  I have no idea which this is but I hope it is the latter as I don't want to see Lillard in MIA if all they have to give up is Herro.

There has to be more involved for Suns/Ayton to be involved. Herro doesn’t make sense for the Suns to swap Ayton for, and not sure there’s anything on the Blazers that makes sense.

But, man, would I love for Lillard to go anywhere else other than Miami just to spite the ignorant Miami media and fans who claim the Blazers “owe” it to Dame to send him there 🙄

Sadly, I think Dame to Miami is a done deal. Star players typically get to go where they want in that leave when they try to force their way out.

I just checked out one of the "reporters", Sean Highkin:

Quote
Sean Highkin covers the Chicago Bulls and the NBA for The Athletic. He also co-hosts the Locked On Bulls podcast. Sean has previously written for Bleacher Report, USA Today, Sports On Earth and NBC Sports.

This still feels a lot like reporters reporting on what other reporters are saying but who knows.  POR wanting Ayton certainly makes sense so that is at least believable.  If POR could finagle a deal where they end up with Herro and Ayton for Lillard, that would be a good trade for them, really good.  But what does MIA send to PHX to make this happen?  Could PHX possibly be interested in Lowry?  Or Kevin Love?  Maybe some of the young MIA players who played so well vs. BOS in the playoffs?  Why is PHX down on Ayton anyway?  I know there were issues prior but new coach, new players, seems he can really help PHX.  I don't see how trading him is going to make them better.

Because a 5 team trade is likely to happen and I'm bored.

Blazers - Ayton, Herro, Martin, Jovic, Miami 1st's
Suns - Zubac, Powell, Korkmaz
Sixers - Lowry, Covington
Heat - Lillard, Morris
Clippers - Harden, Nurkic
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I can see at least an argument for the trade for four of those teams.

Why are the Sixers trading Harden for Lowry and Covington?

If Lillard ends up in Miami I just want it to cost the heat enough to make them suck.  Make it cost adebayo and hero.  Something like that. Or what they have left is a big three of 2 old guys in jimmy and Lillard and the young buck if adebayo and 12 other jags.

With Simons, Sharpe, and Scoot the Blazers don’t really need Herro. Herro is like Simons, though IMO I think Simons is better. Herro would need to be redirected somewhere else, and either bring in more frontcourt help or draft picks.

they get 2 useful players for a guy that doesn't want to be there and doesn't have much of a market. Harden is obviously a better player in a vacuum but the Sixers have much choice but to move him
