I don't disagree with the comments on Kornet and his limitations, he is a fine 3rd string big, a little limited to be a 2nd string (meaning regular rotation) big, but that is what we have right now.  You can go small and then Brissett becomes our 3rd big in a way.  He is probably better than Kornet from a pure talent or production standpoint but he is at best a swing, not a true big (PF).  Wenyen Gabriel is probably more of a PF, where Kornet is more C, that is fine, but I am not sure Gabriel is any better than Kornet, meaning more 3rd string than 2nd string.

Rob Williams was a starting level big, Grant really more of a second stringer, first big off the bench is probably his but suited role.  That is what we need to replace.  Horford can be the starter level guy if need be.  It would be great to find a big who could start, be the 5th or 6th best guy, but even someone at the first big off the bench level would help a lot.  I felt we were OK with Brissett replacing Grant when we had Rob Williams plus Porzingis and Horford, but now the position feel really light.

Screw it, I'm going to be nothing but positive on The Green Kornet this year.  If we get somebody better, great.  If not, we have KP and Jrue, and too many Kornet minutes is the cost.

What is going on with Blake Griffin? I could have sworn I heard a report on the radio Monday night, that he was re-signing with the Celtics. However, I have not seen any other reporting.

Last I heard was that the Celtics wanted him back, but that all signs pointed to him retiring.

So Blake is considering retirement but Brad is still hoping he could convince him to do otherwise. Maybe he can do a PJ Brown and have a mid season comeback?

You may have hit the nail on the head.  It's a long season.  Lots of travel.

I could see him gearing up for a late January return so that he could stay fresh, and avoid injuries for half the season.

Hope it’s with the Cs. That would be a nice late addition.

I think it was Karalis that summed up the Celtics' summer as:

The Celtics turned Marcus Smart and Malcolm Brogdon into Jrue Holiday (i.e. the best parts of both players in one) and turned Rob Williams and Grant Wiliams into Kristaps Porzingis (i.e. the best part of both player in one).

I like that.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

The rim protection of Rob + the 3 point shooting of Grant = Porzingis.

So, what’s the significance of the six years comment?

Brown’s contract ends in six years, and more than likely Tatum’s extension will end the same time with him almost assuredly getting a player option for the final year.

So sounds to me like they’re planning on spending and trying to win big over the next 5-6 years of the Jays’ prime while we have control of them together. Of course, whether that really happens will depend on our success and if the cap continues to rise. Hard to justify keeping both that long if we aren’t winning.

But so far they’ve put their money where their mouth is, at least this off-season.
