Danilo Gallinari: 'I can't wait to play against Boston...I'll put an X on the games we will play at Boston'

Unfortunately, the 34-year-old was used as trade fodder, and he still has some hard feelings about it. On the Italian A Cresta Alta podcast, Gallinari revealed that he’s looking forward to exact revenge against the C’s next season. “I can’t wait to play against Boston,” he said. “When the schedule will be unveiled, I’ll put an X on the games we will play at Boston against the Celtics.”  – via Daniel Donabedian @ Clutch Points

He has cooked us previously, but I don't think that will happen anytime soon.

I'm pretty sure Celtics Karma says he'll be hurt all season comeback to play us drop a 30 piece and its his only game he plays like an all-star the entire season.

Celtics will still win the game tho, as his turnstile defense contributes to a negative +/-, but everyone will still want him in place of whoever the last Celtics player to screw up in a late game situation was.
He's bitter against a team that helped him recover from a season-long injury and traded him only after he recovered?

I think he, like many professional athletes, finds anything he can for motivation.  For example, there was no way he was going to come back from a late August ACL tear to be able to play last season, but there he was releasing workout videos seemingly every day as he kept declaring he’d return.  I’d bet if you asked him about it after his career was over, he’d say the organization treated him well and he was disappointed he was never actually able to play for the Celtics.

Champagne Waived.

Good news if you wanted a more useful bench free agent. Bad news if you thought he was valuable empty salary trade filler. I'll call it good news.

I'll put my money on a 3rd two-way player to bring the roster up to the 14 minimum.

This doesn't bother me.  I don't think the Celtics did anything wrong here, they paid him $6.8M or whatever last season to rehab, but I also don't mind the bluster from Gallinari.  Of course he is going to want to show the Celtics management and fans something when he comes to town.

Overall, his injury may have cost the Celtics a championship.  It is hard to know but it is certainly realistic.  I was very happy when they signed him, I saw him as a good fit, a player that would help.  And he handled everything well through the season under the circumstances.  It is really a shame for both him and the Celtics.

2-ways don’t count toward the roster minimum.  The Celtics need to fill 14 players for the 15 man roster by opening night.

This isn't quite right.  The Celtics may well (and should) bring in a 3rd two-way but that player won't count towards the 15 regular roster spots.  I find it odd that Harry Giles went to all the trouble of getting the waiver or whatever to be able to sign a two-way contract but so far, he has not signed one (unless I missed it).  I don't know how the Celtics could do better for that last 2-way slot and I am not sure there is a better situation for Giles.

As to Champagnie, there was no real reason for the Celtics to waive him now, based on the limited guarantees (I think it was $50,000 coming up due), so I suspect they are doing this to give him a chance to pursue something else, to get in with another team that may have more of a role for him.  It was always clear that he was just keeping the roster spot warm anyway.  I feel pretty confident that they will sign or trade for another vet.  This does not necessarily mean a transaction is imminent, but Champagnie was not likely to make the opening day roster in any case.

Google says he signed a deal with Panathinaikos earlier this week, so I’m not sure this is accurate.

He’s a very good shooter. Always killed us. Would be decent pickup.

Zero chance he signs for a two way. He’s either getting a vet min deal or going to Greece. He’ll probably get good money on Greece based off the Greek media reports.

For a chance at a championship, I think the C's could have a good shot.

What do they have now, 1 full roster and 2 two-ways?  I think he'd want the full roster for sure.
