I mean if they add a couple of guys to the bench it might work out, I don't think there is much of a gap between a Grant and say a  Watford or Jamychal Green or Christan Wood. I will be alright if they managed to land any one of those and add another player like Terrence Davis. Hopefully, the few remaining free agents will see the opportunity available and opt to come here.

Problem is Brad doesn’t believe in signing actual nba players. He wants to be like he heat but the issue is guys don’t get developed.

I honestly think Brad is done,

White, brogdan, Pp
Brown, Banton
Tatum, hauser
KP, Rob, Kornet
AL, Brissett, Walsh

He will add a few scrubs from the summer league team and horde the second round picks for another day

You don't think we'll trade Brogdon for a couple of 9th / 10th in the rotation types?

CO get's negative pretty quickly.  Love the passion, but maybe a little too early to throw in the towel on the season...

It's just a pattern lately.  So many moves could have been made the last two seasons to maximize a chance at titles.  Instead, we've gone cheap and/or with a "don't upset the apple cart" approach.  We could have used the various TPEs and injury exception last year to bring in talent.  We didn't.  We could have signed veterans to the bench.  We've added end of bench players.  We could have kept Grant.  We opted for second rounders.  We could have added a first round prospect.  More second rounders.

It's discouraging.  And there are very few free agents left who are even playable.

Don’t see us getting any of these guys but some remaining players
I wouldn’t hate to see

Oubre
Christian wood
Mo bamba
Biyombo
Nerlens noel
Taj Gibson
Markieff Morris
Stanley Johnson
Justice Winslow

At this point, I think the only plan that would make me happy is:

Sign Oubre with what remains of the MLE
Cut Kornet and Champagnie
Sign Bismack Biyombo
Sign JaMychal Green

Timelord / Horford / Biyombo
KP / Green / Bol
Tatum / Hauser / Brissett
Brown / Oubre
White / Brogdon / Pritchard / Banton

And, for dumpster dive purposes, sign Bol.

I don’t mind not matching the grant offer if we do actually use the trade exception or have another mind, otherwise this offsets the good will of getting porzingas as we really need another front court play that is legit to play some spot playoff minutes

Is the trade exception the full amount of the MLE, or just 50%?  I wouldn't get too excited about a $6 million TPE.

I had assumed it was full but if it is half I am less excited

It's less due to the Base Year Compensation rule

Serious thanks to you BitterJim and others who have an understanding of the cap/ new CBA and let us know what works and what doesn't -- from the rest of us (I assume I'm not the only one?) who are, in varying degrees, befuddled by it all.

I'm going to withhold judgement until it's clear the dealing is done. We knew Grant might be dealt for such a return a long time ago, but I didn't see all these people here before claiming the owners would be "cheap" if they didn't match any offer. Obviously it stinks to lose a talented player, but let's see what else happens.

Can’t wait to see what g leaguer they sign with the MLE. Knowing Brad he will save it for several scrubs from the summer league squad

The only winner today is Brissett who can now wear #12

Really?  I get the sense that most fans were pretty sure we'd match an MLE or below offer.

The question is why didn’t Brad match? Because of the apron? He has something else cooking? He wants to use that MLE on more g league players?

If this is all he does, the off-season was a failure.

I feel like Brad fills out the bench with summer league guys and uses the excuse of roster flexibility as his reason why.

If we use the MLE, I think we have around $4 million of room.

But, here's the thing:  ownership / Brad / the media will spin it like we can't use the MLE, because that will hard cap us.  And, as Brad said a few days ago, the team has a "green light to spend".  So, we don't want to hard cap ourselves.

So, we'll sign minimum free agents, and most likely will cut payroll during the season like last year.

I think the roster is pretty much set. Not much else will be added.

Brad will say they want roster flexibility and to have the ability to do something at the deadline but we all know they won’t do a thing.

Your 2023-24 Celtics:

White
Brown
Tatum
KP
Al
Brogdan
PP
Rob
Brissett
Hauser
Kornet
Banton
Walsh
Davison

Leave a spot open for “flexibility” or that champaigne dude
