Emptiest 36 point playoff performance ever?

Nope - not even close. Tatum was playing hard tonight. Setting up wide open 3 after wide open 3 early only to have his teammates miss. And then being the only player able to do anything in 2nd half. His points didn't come in a 30 point blow-out, they came down 7-15. Literally nobody else could score and the team as a whole couldn't get a stop. It's ridiculous to point the finger at him tonight.

I'd love to see a breakdown of how many of Tatum's points came when BOS was within 5pts, within 10pts, down by more than 10pts.

When it's the 3rd quarter and you are down by 10 points, the game isn't over. It would be different if it were a blow out, but we were always within reach until about half way through the 4th. Somebody has to score points to keep the game close and he was the only one doing so. If we had gotten a few more shots to fall and had a few more stops, those points he was scoring when we were down 10 would have made a huge difference...like, you know, game 4 when we came all the way back.

Is Al going to call himself an elite shooter again in the postgame interviews?

Yeah, I'm gonna need him to chill with that elite shooter talk. Elite shooters make wide open threes.

PP and Hauser should definitely get some spot minutes next game. But I'm sure Mazz will just shelve them again unless it's a blowout  ::)

I would start Hauser next game instead of D White. Get another shooter on the court.

Or Grant Williams

I didn't think Grant played well today. Him and PJ Tucker just sorta neutralize each other.

Hauser on the other hand can bring more scoring potential to the game. Give BOS an advantage over Tucker.

i don’t know, grant played eight minutes in very short stints. tough to get a rhythm going with joe’s pathetic rotations.

Have to say, I'm also more confident in Game 6 Celtics. That seems like a classic game that they actually show up for.

But, to be honest, not sure anyone can realistically look at this team as a true title contender at this point. Our entire coaching staff and gameplan has been exposed this playoffs.

I dunno - do you remember the Finals? Other than games 1 and 2 being swapped (with our blowout coming in game 2 of this series instead of game 1 like the Finals), we are in a very similar position. Up 2-1 in the series and then it becomes more and more frustrating to watch.

It was great that we came back against MIL last year, but we have even more recent evidence of just flaming out like we did against GSW

I just LOL'd at this. Dude is going to be a meme if we do not win this series after the way he shot (and defended) tonight.

Plus, last year's team was capable of playing elite defense. This year's team clearly is not.

They're capable.  It's just not important to Joe.

Tatum scoring:

Within 5pts = 0/3 FG 2/2 FT 3ast
Within 10pts = 4/5 FG 6/7 FT
Down more than 10pts = 7/15 FG 3/4 FT 2ast 2tov

Okay, I took a shot at marking down Tatum's scores by game score ranges.

I probably missed somethings somewhere -- I have only 23 FGAs there but box score says 27. Got the 5ast and 2 TO and the 13 FTAs. I have all 11 FGM so the three shots I missed were all misses.

I believe 3 of those 4/5 FGs where right at the 10pt barrier. Originally I decided to log it by scoreline after the basket rather than at time of the shot. So they were down by 10-11-12pts, Tatum scores and it goes to 8-9-10pts. That idea. In hindsight the wrong approach but I was too far down the road at that point.

Yeah it’s weird but I don’t really want to watch this seesaw team anymore. Title teams win titles for a reason. They know how to finish series quickly.
