Thank God, we filled that 15th spot before the deadline. If it wasn't for that, I'd be really worried now.

I’m close to the same as I was after Game 3.  Only difference is that Philly has momentum heading to game 6 and is clearly in the better place in heart and mind.   But way stranger things have happened than the Celtics taking game 6 in Philly.  And if that happens, the Celtics obviously then have a decent shot at the series.

I believe the Sixers win this series.

Celtics showed their true colors in game 5. They just do not defend and play hard/smart basketball.

That’s not changing overnight.

I stopped believing after the first quarter of G5.

It's been a good not great season. I was entertained but ultimately it doesn't add up to much.

Until they come out with the same energy of game 5 in game 6, its still a series to me. Unfortunately this team doesn't play with the fire needed until things look dire. Go Celtics :(

Thank God, we filled that 15th spot before the deadline. If it wasn't for that, I'd be really worried now.

Here's the pattern this season:

* Hired a third-string assistant as coach

* Didn't fill Will Hardy's or Joe's assistant coaching positions

* Let large TPE expire for nothing

* Cut payroll over the course of the season

* Let one mid-sized TPE expire and used half of another

* Didn't fill Damon Stoudamire's coaching position

* Didn't fill 15th roster spot from January until April

Does that suggest a team that is going all-in for a championship?

I'm with you Roy!  I don't believe for one bit the Wyc and team were "all in".

I don't disagree, but the real question is "Why"? My guess is this is due to the chronic injury issues with the starting center (who has been made into a backup center) and the full-year injury to the new sharpshooter (Gallo). If I were Wyc, I'm not sure I would go "all in" under these circumstances.  After all, he still has a business to run (that means keeping costs down) and the core of this team is still young, so there's no particular rush to win it all this season.

They never were all in. The Ime thing made them pivot to just having this be another season. Team is concerned about the cap and I will not be surprised to see Brown moved this summer.

Grant isn't coming back. Joe does not even play him much. PP is gone also.

I don't get the "this team is still young, no there's no particular rush to win it all this season" argument.

Hasn't sports history proven this wrong time and time again?  No team is promised future championships, and every missed opportunity is a bad one.

The Celtics are printing money.  Wyc and company are making around $100 million in profit per season, and the team is worth $4.0 billion (or more), fifth in the NBA.  There's really no reason to go cheap.

I don't want to get caught up in the "is Mazzulla a bad coach" and "are the owners cheap", there will be plenty of time for that to all hash out over the offseason, which based on game 5, could be sooner than we all expect.

I have been a believer but right now, I recognize that the Celtics are in trouble.  Harden just needs to have one more really good game and we probably lose.  This is not over of course, no more than the Bucks series was last season.  I did not see any of the game, I see the box score (which isn't pretty) and assume the Celtics were flat and couldn't hit anything.

agreed. we are 10 years in now from the rebuild start date in 2013. feels like we have had JT and JB forever now. it is time to shake up the roster and go all in. oh and fire joe. if not we are prolonging the pain and tomorrow is not guaranteed. i agree with others we have some very dumb players who need to be traded, sadly we have years and years of empirical evidence on that now . i would keep JT but trade JB and go get a veteran star. we need a team built for the playoffs and we need coaches who demand the players do what they say and guys with a high BBIQ. brad was too soft as well letting players just jack threes instead of demanding we attack the rim when it was there for the taking. i agree it is coaching AND players. we have huge issues that need fixing now or our window for a title will be slammed shut.
