It's amazing to see what anxiety can do to a fanbase. This was a case study in extreme, fear based thinking. 178 pages. Brilliant.

So glad the basketball people make basketball decisions and bloggers make blog posts.

Can't wait for a another season of haters optimism.

Seems like a pretty needless thread bump.

Some of the the stuff was clearly over the top but some of the criticism was pretty warranted. I think it's fair to critique. It's another thing to be irrational.

I mean, isn't sports talk needless? There's really no need for any of this expression of ideas.

I thought Joe did a decent job last year. Most of this thread is either flat out wrong or hyperbole.

Joe got unfairly hammered, and Ime was put up on a pedestal. I think it's ok to talk about.

You're just trolling at this point, which is what Dons pointed out.  You're adding nothing new and saying nothing insightful.  Instead, you're bored and are trying to stir up conflict.

Sorry if I was offensive. I thought the conversation was relevant to the Celtics. If I touched a nerve, I apologize.

What you posted wasn?t relevant at all.  Bumping a thread after months of inactivity to take pot shots was anything but constructive

Does winning the championship help Joe's reputation? I think so.

I think he's a top 15 coach in the NBA right now. Ime is probably around there as well. It will be interesting to see how his reputation changes as more people tune in. Spo and Kerr weren't considered to be great coaches early either.

The time to bump this post wouldve been the first time Joe made a mistake, like forgot to call a timeout or subbed someone in and left them there too long, or smiled funny?then the optimists haters would have had plenty to talk about. For what is a hater but an optimist having a bad day  :police:

Haha. I'm curious to see how many people are willing to give him a fair shake this year.

Last year was a fluke, fire him as soon as we lose a game.

My biggest problem with Joe has always been his offensive philosophy - too many 3's, too many contested fallaway perimeter shots, too much iso and not enough off-ball player movement. The ball still stops when it hits Tatum's or Brown's hands. I believe it could cost us a playoff series.

I don't disagree with you but it is hard to complain about his offensive philosophy when he had the 2nd best offense in the league his first year as a rookie coach and then the best offense last year with a title to go along with it.  Maybe his style of play....shooting lots of 3s with great defense is the future of the NBA.

Again, this is how Brad wants them to play. He built the team to shoot a lot of 3?s. His plan seems to have worked out pretty well as they just won the championship.  :blank:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Miami has beaten us twice using that 3 and D style. It definitely lets a club punch above its weight class.

I believe Joe made great strides this past season. His first season was not ideal. He struggled but he really worked in things and improved greatly. He has a locker room that believes in him.

I think he is out of the box and a bit odd at times but I like that. I look forward to seeing how he handles this season.

I actually don?t think Joe struggled that much in his first year. He made it pretty far into the playoffs. Compared to Red Auerbach, he wasn?t good. Compared to other rookie coaches, he was great.

Joe has dealt with unrealistic expectations since day 1.

I must be watching a different game than you.  Ball movement greatly improved last year.

He struggled in the ECF vs Miami. That was the breaking point really.
