Two completely different situations. The ref initiated it to deescalate an issue so that's normal behavior for how the player reacts.

Murray was straight up intentional and targeted.

I agree on Murray.  Regarding Tatum, I'm not sure if that's normal behavior, or if it's behavior the league wants to encourage toward referees.  It shouldn't be a suspension, but it also shouldn't be normalized to allow players to push / shrug off refs when they're restraining them.

All I can say is that JT can count himself lucky that Trae had just flagrantly fouled him, which probably influenced how the ref (No50) decided to handle the situation. I feel he was right on the edge with what he did, incidental or not. He could have easily been T'd up.

Of course, if Trae hadn’t flagrantly fouled him, JT might not have gotten so riled up, which is why leniency was given.

T'ed up? Absolutely. He got lucky he wasn't T'ed for that. But in no way Tatum's hand flail to the ref should warrant a suspension, that's crazy talk.

Maybe. But Murray's arguably been their best player and most consistent scorer this whole series. Unless Trae puts up 50+ tomorrow night, this should be a wrap. I also wonder if ATL will even try tbh. Wonder if some of those guys are already in vacation mode lol

According to Surferdad (and others), the severity of the contact is irrelevant. With Tatum's history of complaining to the officials, that push by him can be viewed as being frustrated with another bad call and Jayson just taking the next step to venting. Unfortunately there isn't much difference by letter of the rule.

I don't think Murray should be suspended. But if he does, I can see the argument for why Tatum should too.

Are you intentionally being incredibly obtuse? Or can you actually not see the difference between an act of intimidation vs incidental contact?

The Hawks become really thin in the backcourt now.

A lot of Bogdanovic. Which will really put pressure on the frontcourt to keep the Celtics away from the rim. I see the Celtics attacking Trae and Bogdan early and often. Barring multiple Hawks going off for career nights (like Hunter basically did last night), this should be a wrap.

What a dumbass, lol.  He is their best point-of-attack defender in addition to being difficult for us to guard at times.  That’s a big loss.

The other side of the coin is that we’ve played some of our worst ball when the other team is down key players.  So I hope we show up ready to end the series.
