The NBA is investigating, but I can't imagine there will be a suspension.  But, it's happened before.

He clearly sought out the ref as the game was ending and made contact — it was not accidental.  He also was ejected last season for throwing a ball at a ref, so he’s not a first-time offender.  I think he’s suspended, and I don’t think it’s a terribly difficult call.

He waited after the gam so not to get thrown out ,  that is even more incentive to suspend him .intimidating a referee especially after a game so blatantly has to Automatic for next game.  Given his history , he d got 2-3 game suspension into next season from me.  Physical intimidation can’t be allowed on officials .  Wrong from so many standpoints .  It’s cheap, juvenile, bush league , poor taste .  Was he raised in a prison?

A suspension seems like an easy call. That is the definition of an intimidating bump. You can’t even come close to allowing players to do that to refs.

People will bring up Tatum pushing the refs arms out of the way. But in that case, the ref thought Tatum might approach Young after the hard foul. It wasn’t premeditated and the ref initiated the contact.

Yeah this seems like the easiest decision thus far in the playoffs to make of these sorts of things.  1 game suspension without question.

Is a suspension likely for Murray? It would seem so. Historically, inappropriately bumping an official the way that Murray did crosses a bright red line, one that results in an automatic ejection and a one-game suspension. Boston’s Grant Williams, for instance, was ejected and suspended one game in October after he contacted official Cheryl Flores in a loss against Chicago. With the buzzer going off at the same time that Murray contacted official Petraitis, ejection wasn’t possible on Sunday. Should absolutely be suspended. Grant was. Murray was overt, sought out the ref and sought out the contact

Murray leans his head into head butt the ref. And he still is screaming at him as he walks off the court.

It looked like a suspensions worthy infraction to me.

Too bad for Murray.  He had been playing better than I ever remember him playing.  He had really made a name for himself, increased his stock in the league in my mind.  Now it seems this is what he is going to be remembered for.

A lot of Hawks fans are saying if Dejounte is suspended, JT should get the axe too. Honestly i think those are two totally different situations. As said earlier, Dejounte sought the referee out after the game and made contact. JT on the other hand simply brushed the ref aside because he was for some reason holding JT back after getting fouled hard by Trae. Maybe JT gets warned just to appease the Hawks. I don’t think JT did anything wrong though. It was more like “get your hands off me”.

Thing is, the NBA is investigating Murray's actions. They are not investigating Tatum's, and the refs didn't even give Tatum a tech during the game. There's no case to be had there.

Remember 2012 Game 1 Celtics/Hawks Rajon Rondo accidentally tripped over and bumped a ref Marc Davis and he got suspended for that. I would be shocked if Murray doesn't since his was intentional and intimidating.

Lol, another reason why the charge should be banned. If Murray did the exact same thing to an NBA player during a game, i guarantee that player would have went down.
