Celtics Sign Justin Champagnie to 15th Roster Spot

Sure wish we could find and develop a solid back up center like Kessler.  We lack physicality inside, and pay for it against guys like Embiid and Jokic.

Embiid averaged 44.5PPG against Kessler this season, and to me Kessler doesn't have the kind of frame that will fill out to bang with those kinds of guys.

I don't expect a player filling the 15th roster spot to receive minutes outside of blowouts and practice this season; but if he does and plays well, we'll have advanced clarity on the the Grant-Celtics extension.

Fun video. Liked a lot about his game; at one point tho, it said "best in a role where he can stay close to the basket". That was not encouraging for a 6'6" player. If Justin C can turn himself into a 40% 3-point shooter and is a versatile defender, he has a bright future in this league. If he can’t shoot and depends on putbacks and back cuts, the road is a lot harder.

Julian is/was always the better prospect. Even coming out of college. Spurs are just better as an organization at identifying talent.

I don't understand what you are basing this on.  The Spurs are a near last place team.  Whatever talent they have identified lately is not doing so well.  Meanwhile, the Celtics are one of favorites to win a title based on a team that was largely assembled by identifying and drafting talent.  Then there is Hauser, not drafted but identified.

Yeah, I’m not saying he’s *going* to become a 3-point shooter. I am saying if he can’t it’s a lot harder to see how he earns a place in the NBA. If I was his agent I’d tell him to give it his best. How many non-shooting 6’6” guards last in the league?
