Game changer: The league's new collective bargaining agreement will give players the ability to invest in NBA and WNBA teams, as well as promote and/or invest in sports betting and cannabis companies, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

So, if Tatum invests in the Celtics, what happens if he’s traded?

Sources: Additional salary-related changes in new CBA:

- 7.5 percent increase to the mid-level exception
- 30 percent increase to the room exception

That could help Grant Williams.

I'm a lot more concerned with the league allowing players to invest in sports betting.  talk about someone having an immediate ability to impact wins and losses to cover their bets as well as the betting lines during games they're in.  I give it less than one season after a player invests in one of those companies before a scandal happens

No, no, no… Grant is getting 15-$20M per year.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

So the CBA agreement was basically the owners saying we will eliminate marijuana testing if you guys play a few more games a season, and the players said ok cool?

This hurts the Cs big time. They screwed up big time by not cashing in those TPE’s etc when they could. It will be very difficult for them to add to this roster after this.

Big fan of the tournament.

Big fan of the 65 game requirement for awards.

This should take the mid-level to somewhere between $13 and $14 million a year, so I’m not quite certain what you’re laughing at.

Everyone’s making a lot of money, so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Investing in sports betting could actually help prevent scandals.  If you’re employed by a sportsbook, you aren’t allowed to bet, or you potentially put your sportsbook’s licenses on the line.  They’ll enforce compliance as least as much as the NBA will.

Really nice by job both sides coming up with creative solutions that will keep everyone's golden goose thriving without any t great of strikes or lockouts.

I'm intrigued by the tournament and willing to invest my rooting skills in it if the players show that it means something to them.
Yup

If you were to tell someone ten years ago that professional athletes would be encouraged to promote gambling and drugs, they would look at you like you had twenty heads. But here we are. Societal decay.

What worries me is the part about no MLE and buyout signings for teams above the luxury tax by a decent margin. That could affect us big time down the road. And not just us, but even teams like MIL and LAC

We still have Gallinari for next season, probably Muscala as well for just 3M. But after that? Idk

Time to stop trading draft picks so some of those 1sts turn into end of the rotation players.

on the plus side, we have more draft capital than most other contenders. Picks will be more valuable than ever now, as it's really the only way to improve a team that's way over the cap.

This offseason we'll have an early 2nd rounder - either from Portland (#35) or Houston (#33). And we have our future firsts going forward. So we're in a good spot there. And we have some mid-range contracts to trade as well, especially if we resign grant.

It's the up-and-coming teams who will really benefit from this new system. But we're set up pretty well to withstand it.
