If Boston can't resign him trade him to Atlanta for Young and some extra pieces.
Listening to friends and family in GA and more specifically the ATL, I don't want anything to do with Young! I'd rather have the Collins/Murray one mentioned earlier, and I don't want that either.
Yeah I wouldn't want Young at all. Thinking creatively what about something like this
Boston - Lillard, Nurkic, Griffin
Atlanta - Brown, Smart, Sharpe
Portland - Young, Collins, Bey/Okongwu
Something in that general framework. Obviously Portland would have to be ready to move on from Lillard, but they'd get their new Lillard in Young. Boston goes for it big time over the next couple of years with Lillard, though obviously would affect the long term.
So Post Trade for Boston next year (without adding a free agent - 1 open spot in that scenario after bring back Grant)
Starters - Lillard, White, Tatum, Al, Rob
Playoff Rotation - Brogdon, Hauser, Grant, Nurkic
Deeper rotation - Pritchard, Griffin, Muscala, Gallinari, Kornet
Team really leans into size and adds a mega scorer next to Tatum to really help him take the load off. Lillard finally has a real shot at a title. Lillard obviously has a massive contract, but this gives Boston a real and legit 2 year window and still a good shot at winning for the life of Lillard's contract.
