We’ll we kinda already knew what his adjustment was after his game 1 post game comments.
Shoot more threes. They did. And they made a lot of them. Philly didnt. Unfortunately that’s just the NBA today.
Regardless of how good of a coach you think he is, I like seeing the media have to take a good cheap shot every now and then, so good for him
They did shoot more threes, but only scored 2 more points than last game. I think the biggest adjustment was pretty clearly the defensive effort. Gave up 119pts in game 1 and only 87pts last night. This team 100% can play elite defense when they want to. Also took care of the ball much better yesterday, only turning it over 6 times, compared to 16 in the first game.
This is factual but I think an incomplete assessment of what the problems was and what the correction needed to be. Yes, in the simplest form, it was take more 3s. But the problem was forcing the ball to the hoop that led to turnovers. We took more 3s but taking a 3 is far less likely to lead to a turnover than forcing it to the hoop. The better way to say this is don't force the ball, take the 3 when it is there.
As to the defense, yes, it was better or at least more sustained but turnovers lead to easy buckets the other way in game 1. So the whole force the ball, turn it over, give up an easy opportunity the other way, or even just an additional opportunity, that makes the defense look worse statistically.
I guess around 50 3s is about where Joe wants the team to be. That is fine, seems a little high to me actually but fine. But what I don't like is the reckless drives to the hoop that end up as a turnover. I care less about the quantity of drive opportunities vs. 3 point opportunities and more about the quality of those opportunities. Drive to the hoop all game if it is a good quality opportunity that doesn't result in a turnover.
