It’s crazy that in this series, we have the worst coach in a matchup that includes Doc Rivers. Ugh

Doc actually made some adjustments and introduced the zone defense against us which stifled us for stretches. Mazzulla just stood there doing nothing meanwhile  ::)

Good news guys: the coaching situation can't get any worse than it already is

If everyone thinks Joe is that bad how you expect this team to beat the best coach in the league next round?

Because our players are the best.

However, means little if they actually listen to our idiot coach.

You can defend us by contesting our guys every time they put the ball on the floor - basically the Golden State blueprint from the finals. Jaylen has a weak handle. You can get occasional wins vs Tatum, Brogdon will turn it over occasionally - and we're just lackadaisical enough to the point where that strategy can work on some nights.

The Sixers did that tonight.  That last play got blown up because Reed got his hand in there and knocked away the pass to Tatum.

Coach didn’t throw the ball to Maxey. Didn’t lose the ball and foul Reed. Didn’t call the blocking foul on Smart.  Ultimately the Cs were in position to win and blew it down the stretch.

If they weren't handicapped the entire game by an incompetent coach and a futile defensive gameplan, they'd have more margin for error in those situations.

This is how it’s going to go after every loss. Joe will be the scapegoat regardless of what happens on the court. When they win, it will be in spite of his poor coaching. That’s how it’s been the second half of the season.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I in general agree with you, players win or lose the games.  But tonight the def scheme was so bad, you as a coach HAVE to make an adjustment.  When a coach can't do that at the conf semi's playoff level, then they are hurting their team.

I honestly think Joe could be a great coach in the NBA. I just hope he doesn’t blow this opportunity to win a championship off. I mean we did have the second best record in the league, no incompetent coach can do that. Perhaps his success is making him stick to his philosophies. As they say, you can’t argue with success. But this is the playoffs, and everything is a bit harder and faster. A great coach adjusts when things aren’t going well. Letting the guys “play through adversity” in the regular season might not work in the playoffs. I hope he improves on that soon.

Yes, because he is a bad coach

Look what the 8th seed hear are doing. IF anything, the record we had masked the deficiencies Jie has.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

I think coaches make a difference and this team needs a more aggressive leader than some other teams might.  But talent is the most important variable in the NBA.  I don’t think Joe is the right coach for this team at present.

That said, the Cs have too much talent to rule them out even with the not quite right coach at the helm. Tomorrow’s game is close to a must win so we’ll see what they do with that.
