Probably not a popular opinion. But another thing that kinda bothers me is that this team sometimes carries on and acts like they've won a championship, when they haven't. Yes, they certainly have come close a few times, but they haven't officially won one yet.
Even after the 2018 ECF Game 7 loss, it felt like a lot of our guys (especially Rozier and Brown) were already crowning us champions in 2019 and that we've have multiple rings "5 years later". Then we know how 2019 turned out.
I think they have this mindset that they can "coast" and "experiment" with certain things this late into the season and be fine come playoff time, however that can sometimes cost you. They may think being the 2 seed is fine, but if we lose Game 7 on the road to MIL then we'll regret it obviously. I also fully maintain Miami last year was not good, BUT that series only went to 7 games because we shot ourselves in the foot Games 3 + 6, and also figured we could "rest/manage" guys like Timelord certain games early that series. That may have fatigued them and mentally drained them come Finals too where they played a Warriors team who took care of business and didn't have any long series before.
Lowe in his podcast highlighted how MIL seemed to "tank" to the 3 seed to avoid BKN first round last year, but ultimately that may have cost them Game 7 at home vs Boston the next round, and they regretted it ever since. But the thing is, MIL did win a championship the year before so you can sort of understand their mindset (they've been there, done that). If MIL or another recent title team "coasts" a little or "steps back" in intensity a little during the regular season, I think you can understand it.
The C's haven't won anything yet. I hope they do soon, but until then they need to fight like they want it and play hard each and every game. You won't win every game and there'll be times you have to play ugly, but the C's sometimes seem to play like they are entitled and arrogant when they shouldn't be. Last night's loss was horrific and a poor reflection of the team really.
They need to wake up ASAP. Forget MIL, but right now I can't even say with confidence they can beat NYK or CLE in a series especially with how they've looked recently
