He’s been bad over the last 10 games or so, shooting under 30% from 3pt. Hard to keep him in games to “play through it” when the team is losing. I don’t mind Hauser on the roster as a deep bench guy, like a 3rd stringer, but he’s too one dimensional for regular use. Sam doesn’t do anything well other than catch and shoot 3’s and right now he’s not even good at that.
Yeah this has been so disappointing. At the beginning of the year it looked like we made up for the decision to keep Javonte Green over Max Strus. Strus would be tremendous on this team right now. Not sure what has happened to Sam. At the beginning of the year it looked like everything was going in. Now it looks like he's lucky to hit rim.
Nothing happened. He is a 25 year old 2nd year player that wasn't drafted, was barely a top 100 recruit in his draft class and that spent 4 years in college. In other words, the fact that he is even on a roster is an accomplishment. He just isn't good enough and has never been good enough. A hot streak can happen as he is a quality shooter, but that hot streak has made people blind to the fact that Hauser should be the 14th or 15th man, not a regular rotation player, and frankly he should be playing regularly in Maine to see if he can develop into a rotation type player with more consistent shooting.
This is all the result of terrible roster construction. Boston entered this season with 3 worthless players, Hauser, and Kornet or Griffin (1 is fine, but not both). that is 33% of the roster that really shouldn't play. That is the problem, has been the problem, and continues to be the problem with this team.
