That went in, but another horrible iso possession. Yuck. What is wrong with this team?

What is wrong with this coach ?

If it wasn’t for coach, we’d be in first place!!!  >:(

Part of the burden of the coach is that they never get credit for wins, but always get the blame for losses. If people think the game threads are negative now, with us in first place, let's all remember back to this time last year when some people quit the game threads because they couldn't handle the negativity, Just look back to some of the comments from this time last year about Ime:

Quote
"I love Perk’s frankness and insight. Anybody see Perk pre-game? He said Ime needs to be held accountable by Brad. Perk likened Ime to a parent who has lost control of his kids. “ You give them too much rope and they play with you all the time. He has to draw the line [with the players]. Uchoka is in way over his head."

"I can't do this anymore. I have seen them blow games all season long. This team is poorly constructed and they don't believe in each other.. Their body language shows it."

"A viable head coach might have a bigger impact!"

"The whole Tatum bringing up the ball was a disaster when Brad did it, it is still a disaster with Ime."

"Coach is certainly worse in my opinion. We’ve got a fairly substantial sample size to be able to say that with confidence. He just has no idea on the offensive side of things."

"They have decent talent. They just have a head coach who doesn’t know how to use that talent effectively, either short or long term, and he especially doesn’t have the coaching skills to get them to perform by holding them accountable."

Now this isn't to criticize fans, but reality is fans have short memories and they are passionate about the game and take every loss personally. Losses can genuine ruin someone's day. When the team isn't playing well the coach becomes the easiest target. Even easier if he's a new kid who is younger than most of the people here, and is an NBA greenhorn. So when the team plays well it's because it's an experienced team with players that know what they are doing, when it doesn't the coach is doing a terrible job. That's just the curse of being a coach

The light at the end of the tunnel is that, well, there's always another game around the corner, so any frustration over a loss should be short lived. And we can take heart from last year, that if the playoffs had started in January we wouldn't have made the playoffs, let alone the finals, the way we were playing. The same goes for this year. We need to be playing well in May and June, and they need to be learning from all these poor performances on the way.

I’m glad for this incredible bounce back performance by JB. Should do wonders for his confidence. I still don’t know why JT gave PatBev that fist bump before taking those crucial freethrows. I mean he obviously was trying to jinx him. Crazy how “friendly” the NBA game has become.

Lebron looked pretty good tonight for 38. I didn’t notice much regression.

Not the prettiest game to watch, and the result will do little to answer the questions a lot here have about Joe Mazz and the team, but they deserve credit for showing heart and gutsing out a win. Not every game will be beautiful or mistake free but hopefully each game builds character and helps them figure out how to win difficult games when they aren't shooting well.

Jaylen with a meh type game where he still scored 37 points despite shooting poorly from 3 and having some defensive lapses. But he, like the team, did enough to win.

TPs for all!

oh please come on, are you trolling us with the bolded?  JB basically won the game for us in overtime, and had the 3 point play to get us tied.  If that is meh, then you have really high expectations.   37 points on +50% shooting, 9 boards, 3 assists, 1 block, 1 steal, all of the 4th and overtime playing with 5 fouls!  lol...maybe you are joking and I just can't tell.

Yep. Well said. Couldn’t agree more.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

The Lebron missed foul call was bad, but I also want to add that Westbrook "flagrant" was absolutely laughable. That had to have been a make-up call, because Brogdon didn't even make contact with his face yet Westbrook sold it by going down acting like he got sniped from the stands

Tatum 47 minutes this game.  Gassed after playing OT against the Knicks.  Thankfully we have 3 days off before facing BKN again.  Hopefully Smart and Timelord are back by then.

As much as I am not a huge LBJ fan, the dude is still producing at an incredible level.
Still impossible to stop when he attacks with a head of steam, still hitting clutch shots.
Scary.

Yeah - no legs at the end again for JT.

Brogdon with 26 points and +11 to lead the team.
Biggest offseason pickup imo. Him, JT, and JB are a three headed monster

I guess when I say a meh game he had a really up and down game but still won us the game despite it. I high-variance game is what I would call it, where he made some bad mistakes but also did some brilliant things. He shot 2-9 from 3, had to sit much of the 4th with 5 fouls...I wouldn't say he had a perfect game but he still contributed the most to winning of anyone in the team.

The team's biggest need is a decent 3 who can spell Tatum - that is if Joe would actually play him, which is questionable - no matter who they'd bring in.

Now they won't stop talking about that missed call on that lebron layup.

As if the C's haven't been shafted by the refs when Lakers play us in the past
