I do find it somewhat telling that the Nets seemed to be close to hiring Udoka, but then decided to pivot away and hire Vaughn. Like maybe Udoka really did mess up somewhere big time. The Nets are also a bit dysfunctional and even they decided to stay away

I'm surprised there are still Ime supporters here.

Well, let’s be clear here. I’m talking about his basketball fit and what he did while here. I was all onboard the Ime train from the get-go, and I still think he was/is the perfect fit for this group.

That being said, after his actions he clearly had no place in this organization. And depending on the actual facts of the case (that we’ll likely never know), he may not have a coaching role elsewhere in the league.

Given his age and short time he has been thrown in the fire at the big show ,  I mean he ‘s done ok so far and yeah I think he has earned himself a new title of head coach.

He stepped in and did not complain and went to work .

Surprised this happened (for strictly legal purposes).  Does this mean they settled with Ime?

My guess is Ime’s contract has language that allows them to re-assign him to a different role in the organization if they keep paying his salary.

Do they want to do this?  I imagine he'll go to a different team next year.

No, they certainly don’t want to, but it means they can wait on actually firing him and having a fight over how much money he’s owed until the summer, which a) is good for the bottom line, because there’s a chance someone else hires him, and b) minimizes in-season distractions for a team that is currently focused on higher goals.

Mazzulla named Head Coach - interim removed, given extension.

Recipe for Disaster.

How many playoff seasons without a title will go by before Stevens realizes he hired Joe because he reminds him of himself?
Young player's coach with good ideas for offense, awful player accountability, bad in-game management, not demanding enough of effort.

Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

I'm ok with it. Can't complain with the results. Whether it's mainly the players responsible for where we are right now or not, the fact is Mazz has overseen things this season. I don't care as much about his timeout philosophy as others, I'm sure that will change come playoff time. I do care about how well he prepares the players to play, and for the most part he's done a good job. He deserves an extended opportunity to prove he deserves the job without the "interim" tag hanging over his head.

One thing he's done a great job with is take the focus away from the players and put it on himself - when the team wins it's because of the players, when it doesn't its because Mazz done messed up. Which is how it should be  :police:

but they stated that Ime Odoka is no longer employed by the Celtics.

Didn’t see that part of the news.  In that case, yep, he’s officially gone.

It will be interesting to see if Mazz adds new coaches next season, or if he gets rid of any of the existing ones.

I'd like to see Stoudamire stick around.  Everybody else seems solid, but it's hard to really judge them without being on the inside.

I’m sure there will be some turnover.  I too like Stoudamire a lot, and I wonder how much he’s helped Marcus become a true PG this year.  If I’m not mistaken, Stoudamire is Grant’s cousin, which makes his pending free agency slightly more interesting.

Players have more say than 20-30 years ago .  If he is bad , I expect they ‘ll let somebody know .   But if they like him and his coaching message,  who am I to say , I’m not there on the team and know each player as an individual.  I think , he ll adapt and evolve more as a NBA coach . Everybody has to start somewhere.

I'm really shocked at how people are down on this. WT F is going on here? We are the best team is basketball! Some how people have forgotten how lucky we were to roll into those finals alot of stuff fell our way and then Ime crapped his pants the last 4 games.

What am I missing here? Are we watching the same Celtics? am I in a parallel universe?

Couldn’t agree more, TP. I’m at a loss as well.
