Pre deadline I thought Celts were the best team ( unless GS adds a quality rotation  guy snd Celts do nothing to improve the team . Right now I’d definitely go Suns. So tough day.

Like to see if Tony Snell got anything left plus think buyout market is where Brad gotta go

Most of buy out candidates (Wall, Jackson, Beverly) are PGs, which we don't need.  I know guys have their sights on Barton, who would be okay, but is he really getting bought out?  Reminds me of Gary Harris buyout rumors last year, a lot of smoke no fire.

According to B-Robb, the C's offered Pritchard, Gallinari and 2nd round picks for Poeltl

Obviously what they got from Toronto was better.

Does make me think CBS is willing to make a move but not give up any first round picks. Which I sort of understand. We don't have any until 2025

Poeltl would have been good defensively vs Jokic, Embiid.  But otherwise not sure he would have been of much use to us. Doesn't really fit our defensive schemes.

Barton has a better chance of getting bought out.  He reportedly was seeking a trade, unlike Harris who was happy in Orlando and resigned.

Whether it happens, and whether he makes it to Boston, is a different story, of course, but the odds are better than they were with Gary Harris.

Hasn't done much worth noting in Maine thus far.

That's exactly how people talked about the Nets when Durant went there and look how that turned out. I doubt the Suns just got better than the Celtics.

Boston's biggest piece of spending power during buyout season: the $3.2M Disabled Player Exception.

Boston has until March 10 to sign a player to a rest-of-season contract worth up to $3.2M.

Using DPE does NOT prevent Danilo Gallinari from returning, should he recover early.

Career highlight: 1973-74 championship, Boston Celtics

Career lowlight: traded for a washing machine

Agreed.  I think they got better, but they didn’t make Chris Paul 3 years younger, which is what they really need.

Orlando Magic swingman Terrence Ross is a potential buyout candidate to keep an eye on, league sources told @HoopsHype. – via Twitter MikeAScotto

So some of the wing possibilities are:

Barton
Ross
Green
Justin Holiday
Cory Joseph
Thybulle

Not a lot to get excited about.

Barton is a good player.  Green is a good veteran voice.

I’d love  for the Celtics to get Alec Burks, if Pistons decide to let him go ring-chase. Although he might still choose a team that has a shorter bench or he might not get bought out at all. My question is: if Will Barton gets bought out quickly and is willing to sign here, do you get him or do you try to wait for somebody better that might get released a bit later in a season and risk losing out on a sure thing like Barton?

The DPE isn’t pro-rated, correct?  So we can offer the full $3.3 million?  How much is the pro-rated minimum worth for Barton (10 year veteran)?

Correct, it doesn't pro-rate.  The pro-rated minimum changes daily, of course, but it's around $900k currently.  Notably the MLE does pro-rate beginning January 10th, so the $4 million the Heat had left has decreased a fair bit in the last month.

Thybulle is expected to be bought out? Really?

SI list of Celtics buy out candidates:

Danny Green
Will Barton
Garrison Matthews
Hamidou Diallo

I'm skeptical we will get our top pick of buy out guys. Teams like Lakers, Philly, Heat and Suns always seem to be preferred.  I know they are supposed to be ring chasing, but I think weather also factors in. (doesn't explain Philly though!!)
