Some consolation - at least we're not the Clippers haha Losing big at home to a Grizzlies team without Ja, Brooks, Adams, or Clarke and embroiled in a massive controversy over the past two days.
51pt 3rd quarter for the Griz.  Win the quarter by 21 points.

Westbrook curse strikes again.

A middling detail, obviously.

The league has rescinded Giannis Antetokounmpo's 10th rebound last night--and thus his triple-double, sources tell ESPN. League rules say that for a field-goal attempt to count as official, the player has to shoot "with intent to score a field-goal" -- i.e. to make the shot.

Didn’t Ricky Davis try this?

Yup.  I think the one difference here was that Ricky shot at the wrong basket to pull down the rebound.

That’s some bush league stuff from Giannis right there…

Giannis Antetokounmpo lost the triple-double he tried to secure in the waning seconds of the Milwaukee Bucks' win Sunday over the Washington Wizards by intentionally missing his own shot.

The game was just about over when Antetokounmpo dribbled to the basket and lightly tossed the ball off the backboard to himself to secure his 10th rebound and lock up a triple-double.

However, the NBA rescinded the rebound, sources told ESPN's Zach Lowe, as league rules state that for a field goal attempt to count as official, the player has to shoot "with intent to score a field goal."

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Rickey Davis did it on his own basket right? I am surprised Giannis did this seems counter to his character.

I don't think there is much to it.  It was pretty clear it was pretty half-hearted on Giannis' part and he was sorta just screwing around.

So I didn't mind what Giannis did, I kinda thought it was funny and light-hearted

BUT... I do want to ask, if Tatum or Jaylen did that would this blog and the media be mad about it? I'm almost certain those guys would get blasted lol. Yet I've barely seen any backlash about what Giannis did. If someone like Luka, Lebron, KD, Tatum, etc. did it I think we'd see a lot of hate. Just feels like a double standard if you ask me.

I don’t think so. For one, next to nobody is betting the no on a triple  double bet in the rare instant it is offered. It is like 100 dollars to win 5. So they would only be taking back money they have already paid out. With how competitive the sportsbook market is for legal books it’s not worth the bad pr for one book to try and change this and take back money they have paid out. This kind of stuff has come up in the past and they basically always just still pay it out.

What if you had an alt line under of 9.5?

Or an over of a combined stat category that had rebounds and that was the difference between winning and losing.  There are lots and lots of prop bets these days.

It is true, there are, but you do have to realize the amount of people betting on a Giannis alt rebound bet is very small. His point prop alone, which is still a very small handle to all live total and spread bets plus pregame stuff, is going to have way more action. These books care way more about the positive publicity they get from paying something out rather than taking money back they have paid out. In fact draft kings will actuallly do bad beats refunds more than a handful of times a year in which they will pay out both sides of a bad if there is an egregious mistake with reffing at the end of the game. You want loyalty and you want people to feel like you have their back so they keep using you. There is also a logistical element of this. Someone could easily have made another bet with the winning and lost. Are you gonna harass them to deposit a new hundred dollars to take their account out of negatives? I’ll look it up when I have time but would be absolutely shocked if they did not just pay the bets for all the reasons I mentioned (also some of you know I have done this semi professionally for a while and know a decent amount of people that do it full time.)
