Denver is really starting to put a nice run together.  Jokic last night, 13 of 14 shooting, 36 pts, 12 rebs, 10 asst.  Wow, how do you stop that guy.  So long as Murray and Porter stay healthy, that is a really good team.

MEM staying right with them though, at least for now.  MEM has won 10 straight, settling in with Jackson back, Bane still doing his thing.  Ja being Ja.  Very surprising team in my book.

PHO sitting at 12th.  Wow.  Curse of Crowder I guess.  Wonder if Crowder gets bought out after the trade deadline.  If he is ready to play, there are a number of teams he could probably help (including the Celtics).

If he gets bought out, which is his hope, I expect he’ll go to Miami.

Yeah, I think you're right there.  In theory we'd have the DPE to offer, but I think he wants borderline starter minutes.

That makes sense.  Miami still has some exemptions they can use, right?  They aren't hard capped or anything?  They are just below the tax currently, is that correct?

Yes, they have some of the MLE left, and they can offer him starters minutes and maybe even a starting role, which is clearly what this is about.  Crowder quit on Phoenix when they told him he’d be coming off the bench, just as he got upset in Boston prior to his trade when it was suggested he’d come off the bench here.

I’d want nothing to do with Crowder.  It’s ironic too — he could have kept his head down in Phoenix and had a starting job after all, since Cam Johnson’s only played 8 games.

Phoenix is 18-11 with Booker (and they lost the 4 minute game he got hurt so more like 18-10 with him).  They can't do much without him.  Paul has only played 26 games as well.  Payne only 28 games.  Even Ayton has missed 6 games.  Just too many injuries to overcome for the Suns.

No doubt injuries are the main issue for PHO, in particular Booker, as you say.  They are not that far back from even getting into the top 6 so they could still be a threat if healthy.  18-10 (with Booker) is 0.643 (about 53 win pace).  If they can win 20 more games or more (of the remaining 38), that would get them over 0.500, and probably enough for a top 6 spot.

Kings can clinch tiebreaker over the Lakers with a win tonight. Would be just the third time since 2006 they've won the season series.

The Wiz are shopping Rui Hachimura.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10062169-nba-rumors-rui-hachimura-trade-talks-started-by-wizards-multiple-west-teams-linked

I don’t know enough about him. I remember he had a good rookie year, but haven’t really paid attention since then. He seems more like a tweener 3/4 than what we need longer term for a 4 between Tatum and Timelord. But what are people’s thoughts?

I guess the question is how does he compare to GWill in terms of fit, expected resigning price, etc.?

Fits the Juancho TPE perfectly.  The Wizards have a day to get that deal done with the C’s.  Of course, we’re not a Western Conference team.

He makes a lot of sense as a back up wing/power forward.  If the price is right.

I liked Rui Hachimura for the Celtics coming out of Gonzaga. He’s a starter level role player but he hasn’t developed much since his rookie year, so he’s never going to be a star.

Rui’s a couple inches taller than Grant and I wouldn’t call him a tweener. He’s definitely a power forward at 230 and plays like one, not like a wing. His offense is almost all inside although he’s improved his 3-point shot he’s at best league average.

His offensive numbers outside of that are all better than Grant’s though he is starting or playing big minutes on a mediocre team and not a contender. He would play a different game than Grant, but could certainly fill that role. He is usually active on defense, but I think Grant is the better all around defender. Rui grabs an extra rebound but that’s not much of an edge.

I wonder if West Coast teams are interested because he’s half Japanese and might appeal to the Asian market?

that works for me if Wash would take that little for him.  always liked Rui.  thought he'd be better by now but maybe a change of scenery would help his development

They probably won’t tomorrow when our Juancho TPE expires, but I don’t think they’ll get much more than that if they wait until the deadline.  He seems like a serviceable bench player, but he definitely didn’t turn into the player you’d have hoped as a top 10 pick.
