He actually scored the game winning freethrows off of an offensive rebound. Hopefully he gets more playing time in Indy and blossoms into a nice player.

You’re missing a guy who’s putting up 25/7 for the team with the best record in the league.

I like his motor and seems to be a good kid. He needs reps and confidence to regain his shot though and yeah it wasnt gonna happen in Boston.

Yeah noway a top 3 team in the conference just get a single all-star when 2nd player is playing that well and healthy. I dont think anyone will put Harden and Lopez in over Brown.

Brown was close, but just isn't instrumental to the achievements of the Celtics.
Very good player. Not really a star.

Yeah, Jaylen is deserving over about a half dozen guys in the East listed there. Heck, JB gets an All-NBA nod this year if he continues this play and the C's end up as the league's best team.

I have my doubts that Haliburton and Murray get in over Brown or even Trae Young.  Even Mitchell.  He may deserve it but even he may not beat out Brown.  Harden is a tougher call.  If he plays, he probably gets it.  But "availability" has become a very big issue for him.  Even if he gets voted in, if he is injured he won't play and someone will be added to replace him.

It's interesting the way Boston went. He does have a future as a scoring wing with good length. He can create shots off the dribble going left or right, so he's more than a shooter; he's been getting to the line; he needs a team where he can get a lot of rotation minutes to pull it all together, and Indiana looks like a place where he can do that, where he can carve out a role. He has competition; looks like Bennedict Mathurin was a good pick for them at #6 this year.

The Pacers got several players, including Daniel Theis, plus Boston's 2023 first-rounder. Daniel has yet to play this season, and there is no timetable for his return (is it necessary to add that his knee is the issue?). Given that Malik Fitts, Juwan Morgan, and Nik Stauskas are no longer with the Pacers; that the draft pick, predictably, will be late in the first round; and that Theis' knee was a known issue - we might reasonably suppose that Nesmith (or his considerable potential) was the part of the deal that Indiana most wanted.

'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

I'm not predicting what will happen. I am sure Brown will make the All Star team if the Celtics keep the top spot in the conference. But as Moranis has pointed out many times, it's really just Tatum who's leading the team. But let's look at a bunch of respected advanced stats that look past the raw scoring numbers. They indicate a picture that may shock a lot of Celtics fans. If you think I've made them up you can look them up yourselves.

The only player who's debatable is Murray. You could choose here VanVleet, Holiday or Young. I chose Murray because he played more games. I have gathered the following stats:

Estimated Plus Minus (EPM) and Estimated Wins (EW)
source: https://dunksandthrees.com/epm

Win Shares (WS) and Box Plus Minus (BPM)
source: https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/BOS/2023.html#all_advanced-playoffs_advanced

Overall Raptor (RAP) and Wins Above Replacement (WAR)
source: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/nba-player-ratings/

In the last column I added these stats up. Recognise that Brown isn't even in the discussion.
In particular BPM (-0,3) and RAPTOR (-1,0) really don't rate Brown at all.
