It's the annual "the Hawks want to trade John Collins" post:

Quote
The Hawks have opened up preliminary trade discussions around forward John Collins, as interested teams inquire, league sources tell The Athletic. The Suns are a team showing desire in Collins, those sources have added, but they appear uninclined to take on the long-term money of Collins, who is in the second season of a five-year, $125 million contract. The Hawks don’t have an imminent deal in place involving Collins, those sources say, and executives around the league believe a potential deal will be weeks and potentially months in the making ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline.
– via Shams Charania @ The Athletic
Since Collins doesn't want to be in Atlanta and Ayton and Crowder don't want to be Phoenix, I wonder if a Collins and Capella for Ayton, Cam Johnson and Crowder trade makes any sense for both teams.

TP

Great trade idea.

The only issue would be the overlap in roles of Ayton & Okongwu, and if the Hawks could keep both big men happy.

I feel like Collins' career could either go down the important-piece-on-a-contender path or empty-stats-on-lottery-team path.

I wish we had mid-sized contracts to target him.

Collins has declined in several key stats every season since 2019/20 (points, FG%, 3%, FTA, Rebs).  Whenever I see him play, I always am disappointed.  I am not sure he is that good, or if he is, he never shows it when I watch (which granted is only few times a year).  On paper, he appears to be exactly what we need but he just is not making it happen on the court.

I’ve never been impressed watching him either.  I feel like a lot of his stats are empty.  Trae Young sets him up for easy shots and Capela does the hard defensive and rebounding work.

Same. I don't see the appeal.

Ayton will most probably be a trade candidate come the trade deadline. He just looks disengaged playing with he Suns. Too much potential to be that under utilized.

A classless move by Giannis tonight, throwing the ladder away from the Wells Fargo arena employee. Glad they got beat by the 76ers tonight. Can't stand the new poster boy Giannis.

Giannis has always seemed pretty classy to me.  Certainly much better than Lebron and KD.

Anyone else seeing the lakers look significantly better without lebrons stat chasing and ole defense? Westbrook has been unlocked and Davis looks like a star again.

Yeah I think this is the first complaint I have ever seen about Gianni’s. Compared to the personalities of Chris Paul, Lebron, irving and kd he is a god personality wise.

Yeah, I despise those divas y'all listed. But just didn't like him mistreating an employee doing their job as a basketball star player. I get it, you lost, should go home and practice shooting FTs instead or maybe he had all summer to work on his FTs. But man, throwing a ladder away and continue practicing FTs after the game? Get outta here with that attitude. Maybe it's just me but I already got sick of him getting all those phantom calls going his way in last season's playoff series, so nope.

Here's his explanation. Long story short, he came back out on court after the game and wanted to shoot 10 free throws because he shot bad. After the 8th Harrell came and took the ball away from him because (according to him) he wanted to practice too. Eventually Harrell left with the ball, Giannis went back into Philly's locker room and got another ball to shoot his last 3 free throws but there was a ladder in front of the hoop, I guess they had to disassemble it. He wanted to finish off his practice and they wouldn't let him so he moved the ladder out of the way, they moved it back and he pushed it away, it fell over, he shot his two remaining free throws and then went back in the locker room. Bit of a mountain out of a molehill really

Quote
"I've never tried to disrespect anyone in any way, shape or form," Antetokounmpo said once he eventually spoke, more than an hour after the game ended. "I feel like today is just an unfortunate event that took place."

What set all of these events in motion was a second straight dreadful game at the free throw line for Antetokounmpo, who went 4-for-15 from the charity stripe on Friday. This came after a 4-for-11 night at the line in Wednesday's victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

So, after going back to the locker room following Friday night's game, Antetokounmpo came back out to the court to practice some free throws.

It was at that point, however, that things took a very odd turn.

After Antetokounmpo made seven free throws in a row -- part of his routine of making 10 in a row every time he steps onto the court -- and had shot his eighth, Harrell took the ball away and wouldn't give it back. He apparently was upset that Antetokounmpo was preventing him from getting in his own work ahead of Philadelphia playing the second half of a back-to-back against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.

"I respect every player," Antetokounmpo said. "I know some players don't play now, they want to get some extra work, want to work on their skills and stuff, and I said, obviously we can shoot together. They said, they told me no, this is their court, I should leave. I was like, I have three more free throws, I was at seven, I want to try to make 10 in a row. I shot my eighth one. Came and took the ball away from me and I was very surprised. I feel like it's very unprofessional. I would never take the ball away from a professional athlete when he's trying to do his job."

Thanasis Antetokounmpo then went and tried to speak to Harrell at the other end of the court, leading to another discussion and Harrell leaving with the ball. By the time reporters were aware of what had happened, Harrell had left the locker room. The 76ers organization also declined to offer comment about what happened.

Harrell later tweeted his own explanation of what happened.

"Aye make sure you get the complete story," Harrell wrote in his tweet. "I ask the man can he get off the court so I can workout they had to change the court over he ignore me so hey that's what you get! Respect is respect! GOODNIGHT!"

Giannis Antetokounmpo said he then went and got two more balls from Philadelphia's locker room and came back out to the court, hoping to finish his routine. By that time, however, arena workers had put a large ladder up in front of the basket.

"I went back out there to shoot and there was a ladder in front of me," Antetokounmpo said. "And I said, 'Can you please move the ladder? And they said, 'No.' I said, 'Can you guys please move the ladder?' They said, 'No.' I was like, 'Guys, I have two more free throws, can you please move the ladder?' And they said, 'No.'"

At that point, Antetokounmpo walked from the free throw line to the basket and moved the ladder out of the way. When arena workers then moved the ladder back in front of the basket again, Antetokounmpo shoved it out of the way. The ladder skidded several feet, tipped over and fell on its side.

Antetokounmpo then went on to finish his routine and went back to Milwaukee's locker room, where he was visibly upset about what had happened. He eventually talked to reporters a while later.

"At the end of the day, people are going to make things look the way they want it to look," Antetokounmpo said of the video of him pushing the ladder. "Did I mean to push the ladder all the way down? I totally did not. I just tried to, I think I pushed it and it got caught and fell. But people are going to make it look the way they want it to look.

"I know what happened. I think there's cameras all over this court. We can show the whole incident from people coming and getting the ball, people getting in my face. I don't want to get into all those things.

"I don't know if I should apologize because I don't feel like I did anything wrong, except the ladder just fell. I feel like it's my right for me to work on my skills after a horrible night at the free throw line. I think anybody in my position that had a night like me would go out and work on his free throws.

"And if they didn't, they don't really care about their game."

Antetokounmpo also said that he believes his reputation precedes him and that he wouldn't disrespect anyone in the league -- nor, he said, was he trying to do so here.

"At the end of the day I think everybody knows my character," he said. "I think the people that know my character know I never try to disrespect anybody within the NBA, within my coaching staff, within the opposing team. I respect with the best words about any player whenever I've been asked. Or I've never disrespected an opponent coach or a coaching staff. Or whenever I shoot and finish my routine, from my rookie year until now, I always shake every ball boys hand and make sure I thank them for the work I do because I know it's hard to do their job chasing balls over and over and over again and make sure they're OK. I do it for my ball boys and ball girls in Milwaukee. They help us when we shoot and I try to do it on the road, too. I've been known for this."

Yeah tbh reading some of the newer tweets and reporting on this, it sounds like both parties are to blame. Giannis shouldn't have had the ladder moved when the employees there are doing their jobs and probably trying to go home soon too. But then Harrell really escalated the situation with his actions too.
