So much for those talking heads speculating that Udoka would never coach again in the NBA. Doesn’t seem like the media is giving the Nets any grief over the (likely) hiring, either. Why is Ime getting a pass?

Also, wouldn’t it be better to wait until the halfway point of the season or the off-season before letting teams talk to Ime? Especially considering the salary the C’s are paying Udoka has been significantly reduced(per Wyc). Nets still have time to turn things around at this point…

He's getting a pass because nobody knows what he actually did.

Depends how that first press conference goes.  He just got to release a statement after the Celtics suspended them — reporters will want to get an answer, and he won’t be able to avoid it.

Yes he will.

Also the Blazers didn't let anybody ask questions about Billips past.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

There’s a difference between 20 year and 1 month.  Reporters will keep asking.

He won’t be able to avoid them asking the questions, but he certainly can avoid answering them.

NBA teams don't really care about the character of their employees if they can help them win basketball games. Jason Kidd's a head coach, after all.

Udoka never coming back to the Celtics means that whatever he did made his situation with the Celtics untenable, not his situation with the NBA.

Ime can say he's not going to say anything about the ongoing situation with the Celtics for as long as it's ongoing, and then he can say he's focused on the future as soon as it's wrapped.

So, Nets vetted the infraction vs Udoka and decided it did not warrant a suspension or them hiring him.

Did our ownership cancel Udoka too soon? Whatever the case, the Nets  felt it didn’t warrant them moving forward and fired Nash to pounce on this opportunity to right their ship. Man, if the Nets beat us in the playoffs this place is going to go over the deep end.

I dont like the fact we got nothing for this and I am skeptical how bad this truly was.

C's won't get any compensation for this?? Huh??  ???

They're getting compensation, just not in draft picks.  They won't owe Ime the rest of his contract, which they likely would have if they'd kept him on their books.

I wonder, though, whether his conduct was sufficient to fire him for cause, and not be responsible for the balance of his contract.  I'm not sure I buy this.

Well, I guess the Celts could have undergone years of litigation for an uncertain result, with extensive discovery, facts being leaked to the media, Wyc and Brad being put through depositions, etc.

while i am neither a lawyer nor familiar with the details, firing someone often brings a lawsuit. the celtics could have been on the hook for his salary.

but perhaps more importantly, the celtics leadership may have believed that the celtics organization and those women involved might be harmed with bad publicity. too often i read of female victims being publicly pilloried. perhaps those were considerations as well.

but, this is just a guess.

EDIT: i just read Roy's comment which appeared while i was writing. Roy, once more, may have the right of it.

The Nets could hire prime Red Auerbach or Phil Jackson, that roster is not beating us in the playoffs if we're healthy.

I'm sure there are legal reasons for the Celtics to keep the information private. If Ime leaks anything it will be his problem.

Or the Nets don't care and just care about winning. Of course they are going to say they "vetted him" to the media.

The browns also claimed they "vetted" deshaun watson

Weird, yes. Surprising, no. These are the Nets we're talking about.
