So ...... he REPEATED racial slurs in direct reference to someone else's use of the words.

He commented on the attractiveness of some female employees.

He yelled at employees on certain occasions (I assume he was not happy with their performance).

Is this an accurate description of his behavior ?
Not remotely.

Maybe a few of the things he did is common and acceptable in Tennessee, but it's not in most of the rest of the country.

Gosh Nicky, that is quite an ignorant comment.

My question was based on the official findings report listed in Roy's initial post.
I genuinely wanted to know exactly what the guy did since media reports and chat room rumors are so often inaccurate.
Just asking questions, are ya?
Yeah, I'm not buying that either.

I can always count on Nicky and Gouk to comment on my posts with their syrupy sweet moral indignation.
I was kinda going for the powder sugary sweet moral indignation, but I guess I came close enough. They're both great with pancakes.

But seriously tenn, if you were really asking a question, why phrase it in the manner a defense attorney would in trying to minimalize the type of abhorrent behavior Sarver has been proven to have committed? You sure phrased it as if you thought what he did was no big deal?

My curiosity about Sarver's case grew after talking with a friend from NYC a couple of nights back. Having not kept up with the details myself, I was trying to find out what the exact behavior was that has brought down so much attention and scrutiny. I do not trust the liberal press to tell the truth and I sure as hell don't trust the rantings of Lebron James and Draymond Green - so I am not going to jump in and call for Sarver's head without finding out what he actually did do and what reports are just embellishment and not factual.

But Roy didn't provide media reports. He provided actual NBA communications about the situation. They were right there to be read with the NBA providing further links.

Sorry, dude, but you sure seemed to me to be defending Sarver's actions and now come to find out it was all because of political animus when this wasn't a political situation. This was a right or wrong situation, not a red or blue one, unless your red or blueness leads you to defend racist, sexist comments and actions.

Appreciate a nice cutting comment as much as anyone, but we should keep this in mind, from the link (never seen the site before, love it, btw):
Quote
The subjective nature of this charge means that deploying it can be a very inflammatory move. One side may put forward the accusation that the other side is cynically "just asking questions" and believe that they are acting in bad faith, and the other side may equally strongly believe that they were asking genuine questions in good faith and the first person is the one acting in bad faith.

That said, it is important to keep in mind that what Sarver’s agreed to and what he’s accused of are two different things - but forming our opinions off of just what he’s agreed to seems silly.
The thing what he says he did is an actually crime.  He has admitted to pulling the pants of an employee down, as an example.  That is a crime.  He has acknowledged saying the N-word after told not to.  he has acknowledged sending **** and talking about female employees as well as his own male anatomy.

What he has acknowledged is enough for him to be permanently banned, just based on the NBA's own prior precedent, i.e. Sterling.

I'm a stickler for rules and consistency.  The NBA is not being consistent, putting the onus on the players, coaches, and other private businesses to apply the pressure that it should do itselft.  It was a weak move and a bad look and frankly the fact that they care so little about female employees, especially from the owner of a WNBA team, is just reprehensible.  Sarver needs to be forced out.  It is the only outcome that makes sense.

I agree with you - I was just pointing out that I find the thought process of of “I am only going to judge him by what he hasn’t denied” to be more than a bit silly.

Wow.  I'm surprised.  I thought that between this guy's ego, bad judgment and love of conflict that he'd try to hold on.

Could also be his family talking him out of it/seeing the writing on the wall.

It’s not as if he’s not going to make billions of dollars off of it. Now we just have to wait and see if Greenly’s prediction about selling to LeBronn and moving to vegas pans out.

How involved in the sale of the team can he be if he is suspended from the team?

I guess I don't know the extent of activities, it's not like a blind trust.
Can he participate in marketing and licensing activities, those type of deals could increase or decrease the sales price.
How much contact is he allowed with management? Are specific topics forbidden?

Lol.

Translation;
I thought I could ride this out.
But it looks like the groundswell is eventually going to get me.
I better start looking for an exit strategy while I still have some leverage.

It is in the NBA's statement that Roy posted on the first page of this thread.

Clearly, he's a man of God.  The God who waives his junk in employees' faces and tells funny stories involving racial slurs.

And he's got that God-given strength of his convictions, which is why he's caving after a week.

I'm seeing some similarities to Job here, no doubt.

This was the only result possible once a minority owner, executive of the NBAPA and several of the star players including Paul (who is a Sun obviously), corporations like PayPal, etc. started speaking out.
