The knock on Mac was always his arm and athleticism but he made up for it with his decision making and accuracy. Well now he doesnt even have that. The dude cant even throw it 35 yards downfield without underthrowing his guy. I think its Zappe time!

He can throw plenty far, just didn’t get a good throw in there.

I told you all about the Chargers-esque buffonery of this team. This is a clown show and it will only get worse as their confidence deteriorates

Going to the game today

Hope I don't develop frostbite or something from the freezing weather...  :P

Also hope Burrow doesn't shred us

Well my family and I miraculously survived any frostbite, but boy we were freezing all game. And so were many others. Thank god the bathrooms and some of the elevator rooms at Gillette were open and heated

I will say, the 2nd half was very fun and exciting and I'm glad the Pats battled back. But that first half was absolutely dreadful and honestly, a lot of people seemed to be filing out around halftime or early in the 3rd. And I don't blame them, I almost felt like leaving too lol when they fell behind 22-0 and the offense was doing terrible again.

I hate to say though, but this team in general just doesn't seem clutch in the end of games against any decent/great teams. Today was another example. About to score a likely game-winning, go-ahead TD and Stevenson fumbles. Reminds me a bit of last year's opener against MIA where we were about to score a go-ahead TD, but I think at the time Harris fumbled. Even today I kept thinking, "oh god something is gonna happen isn't it" and yep.. Stevenson just fumbles it.

Gillette was only about 50-60% filled in the 2nd half but it did get loud after the Pick-6 and events after. But then it went silent again when Stevenson fumbled and that was the game.

Also this isn't bought up a lot, but Folk missed TWO XPs today. His 2nd one was big, because if he hit that, Pats would have only needed a FG in the final minutes to at least tie...

We still had a fun time and met a lot of awesome people and vibed with a bunch too during the game. Most of my body though felt numb at times and also while leaving lol...

Can the Pats please get Gardner Minshew and a top WR? Kyler Murray isn’t that good…. How about Deandre Hopkins?

Hopkins would be my dream

I see all these people bashing Mac, but I watch all these other young QBs and they have legit weapons. Josh Allen has Diggs and Knox. Tua has Waddle and Hill. Kyler has/had Hopkins and Hollywood. Burrow has a ton of guys even besides Chase. Hurts got AJ Brown and Smith.

Both Tua and Hurts got legit WRs in their 3rd years and look how they've looked this season?

If Mac Jones and Justin Fields (of Chicago) had a real alpha, or even multiple legit weapons I think they'd look awesome. Unfortunately they don't.

For some stupid reason the Pats coaching staff barely plays Bourne either even though he's really good and it's obvious he's like the 2nd or 3rd best receiver on the Pats (and one of Mac's favorite targets besides Meyers)

The reality we all know is that this team just isn't very good. As Phantom said Mac doesn't have many people to throw to (would have been nice to have Kendrick Bourne actually playing during the season - wonder if it's because he's not seen as a Patriot Way type player) and he's not the greatest when forced away from his strengths anyway. Our offensive line has been very ordinary for a couple of years now and the fairest thing that can be said about Matt Patricia is that when we won the Super Bowl against Atlanta he was defensive coordinator, not offensive coordinator. Everything he has done outside that lane has been pretty mediocre.

BUT...because we're the New England Patriots, we expect much, much more from the team. Kind of like when you used to drive a Ferrari and had to trade down to a Ford and now you get frustrated because it takes so much longer to overtake people on the freeway, and sometimes you can't...that's where we are, given the personnel and the staffing. Looking at it from that lens, they actually did a commendable job coming back from 22-0 down, although the Bengals obviously took their foot off the gas in the 2nd half and it nearly came back to bite them. But like last week, we lack that gamebreaker that can actually swing the difference to win these tight games.

With the Dolphins loss today, the Pats still control their own destiny for a playoff spot somehow

If they win the next two (MIA, BUF) they automatically make it. But even if they win against MIA and lose to BUF, they can still make it with some additional help (NYJ loses to SEA Week 17, then beats MIA Week 18). But in terms of tiebreakers and such, next week's game against MIA is massive.

It does make the last few losses a lot more infuriating (especially the Raiders one). Even if they won one of those and were 8-7 now they may be in a pretty good spot.

Now before anyone says "why bother", look I get it, we'll probably get shellacked 40-10 against KC or BUF in the wild card round. But if anyone thinks "tanking for a better pick" is worth it, then you haven't been paying attention to Belichick over the past 20+ years lol. I wouldn't mind just an extra week of NE football if this happens. And I still think there's some value in getting to the playoffs especially for the young players and Mac

I wonder if Marcus Jones could be their gamebreaker, if they can figure out the right way(s) to use him.

Players I want to see us keep:
Defense: Dugger, Marcus Jones, Judon, Barmore (flashed last year and bits this year, but has battled injuries) Uche (finally has popped off.) Obviously you keep the rookies because they are so cost controlled.
On Offense: Onwenu (has quietly been very good now that he is back to his natural position. He and Andrews are our only good lineman right now.) Thornton, and Stevenson.

For Mac, I honestly can't tell if the lack of any type of offensive system has destroyed him. He is making bad reads, but so much of our dysfunction comes from the top. We won't be in a position to snag elite talent at the QB, so we have to roll forward with him for now.

Edit: And honestly, if somebody gave me a legit offer for Judon, I would jump at it. I think we need to build for the future, and he probably only has an elite year or maybe two left.

I have no idea if Mac Jones is any good or not. He seemed promising last year (even with baby gloves they handled him with). I can’t really judge him this year. It feels like they are doing everything possible to ruin him. No offensive system, no offensive coordinators, no go to WR, and no offensive line. He might be legit awful as a QB but not sure how you can judge when you don’t do everything in your power to maximize him.

You wouldn't mind watching an extra game (playoff) of Matt Patricia crapping the entire bed and damaging the image of the franchise even more?  :-[

Thats in a dome with no wind, and roughly 50 yards is nothing in the NFL. Guys like mahomes/allen/herbert are hitting 70s easy. I just know last year in a little wind Bill only let him throw it 3 times. And the infamous play last week vs Raiders, Bill was asked why not throw a hail mary and he literally said Mac couldnt throw it that far
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden
