It was a 24-24 game and somebody decided it was a good idea to throw laterals and lose the ball in the process? I didn't watch the game and I prob won't seeing the reaction from this but my box score displayed the description of a turnover with 3 seconds left?

Did Meyers think Chandler Jones was still on the Pats? Or did he see "Jones" on the jersey and assume it was Mac? Only explanation.

I first lateral made some sense.  It was low risk and there was a potential reward there.  Myers' heave to nowhere didn't make any sense at all, though.  He needs to be smart enough to just be tackled and go to OT.

Seriously though, coaches need to be fired for this and Meyers released (or at the very least sat at the end of the bench). That was just the worst IQ I have ever seen. Just wow.

He’s the only guy on the team who can catch a pass over 10 yards - we can’t release him.

Also, and I keep repeating this, it should not have come to that. The egregious confirmed td call lost us the game. Why on earth can a ref watching replays on an ipad unilaterally decide a play like that?

Terrible boneheaded play, but I guess he thought he could get it back to Jones for a pass with the defense all over the place (only run play and laterals up to that point). My guess is he knows this and greatly regrets the decision.

Well - a fitting end to a terrible sports day.

I have never seen that before.

Yes we somehow find unique ways to lose. Why is it that rugby players make laterals look so easy  :P Crushing way for it to end though, I feel for Jacoby.

I think that was a very bad call, but the Raiders still had time left.  My guess is that they would have still tied the game up.

Bit of a side note. But it's funny how ALL these other teams are able to seemingly drive down the field quickly and get into FG range all in just 15 seconds if needed, 20 seconds max maybe. Yet for us, it took like 25 seconds just to get 20 yards and it was a grind all the way.

32 seconds and 2 timeouts feels like a slam dunk to get into FG range for most teams. Not us though

I dunno, a td is far from a certainty with 30 seconds left and 30+ yards to go. The Pats clearly played a prevent defense up to that point, but it’s a lot easier to dig deep and get a stop at that point in the game/field - especially with a talented Pats defense.

The most likely scenario by far at that point was a Pats win and the ref royally screwed up. He should face repercussions for his ineptitude in making such a poor call on an obvious play that he got to watch 100 times.

Haha that’s a new way to lose. I was bummed for 5 minutes, then I realized that they need to play Cincy, Miami, and Buffalo. They will all be favored. If the Pats pull those wins out, they get to play another team that’s better in the playoffs, followed by another.

Mac was not good again. Time to draft another QB and continue this rebuild.

Thanks guys. Just got home and saw the replay on Youtube.

Yeah, a few folks need to be fired for this.

It also sounds like that was our own version of "Buttfumble"...sad that the Patriots are now becoming the laughingstock of the NFL

He’s a free agent and quite frankly they should let him walk. He’s not that good. He’s a a lot receiver. They can find another cheaper one.

The call was a bad call but it should have never come to that. Lots of missed opportunities in that game, in that first half.

Is it time for Belichick to resign and retire? This has been worse each year since Brady left and somehow even reaching new lows as this season progresses. A lot of this is on him and his decisions.

Did you watch Mac play last year at all? When he had an OC that knew how to run an offense. He was more than serviceable. Blaming this dumpster fire of a team on Mac is pretty ridiculous. Team is undisciplined in all 3 phases of the game. That falls on the coaching staff.
