At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Duke's Cooper Flagg named AP men's basketball Player of the Year

Flagg joins Duke's Zion Williamson (2019), Kentucky's Anthony Davis (2012) and Texas star Kevin Durant (2007) as freshman winners. Each went either No. 1 or No. 2 in the NBA draft a few months later. Flagg is the eighth Duke player to win the award, the most of any program.

I guess not to mention that JT was sorta number 1 and by any retrospective view was the best player in that draft.   I don?t have anywhere near the disdain for Duke as I have for the Lakers, but quite an advantage they have year after year attracting top flight players.  In recent years - Ingram, Zion, Banchero, Tatum, Flagg.

Being from New England, I admit I was skeptical when I first heard about this kid years ago. But wow. He?s the real deal. Awesome story. Cheering him on big time! Our own Larry Bird! Hope he keeps it up!

I've been mostly quiet about him during this run because I don't want to jinx him.  Two more wins.

I think it's really impressive how many top flight players - Ingram, Zion, Banchero, and Tatum - came straight out of high school into the NBA. Fingers crossed that Flagg will keep that success going when he makes the league fresh out of District Two.

Duke lost, but Cooper still balled out. 27pts, 7rebs, 4ast, 3blks, 2stls. He was 8-19 from the field, 3-4 from 3pt and 8-8 from the line. The #1 pick in the 2025 draft and rightfully so. He?s a beast.

Flagg was incredible but it was an utter choke job by Duke. Up 6 with 1:14 to go & possession? That was a major choke on any level.
