Well deserved. I like Kon too, but Cooper deserved this considering the records he broke.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Hard to quarrel with Flagg getting this.

If I could have rigged the results, I would have had them tied.  They both had fantastic rookie years, both doing some unprecedented things.

Agreed, this needed a '95 treatment.

If Cooper was on the Hornets and Kon was on the Mavs, do you think their numbers would be similar?

I think Dallas would win more games with Kon than Cooper + Charlotte would win less games with Cooper than Kon.

=======

In terms of individual numbers, I would expect Kon's to be similar on either team. For Cooper, I would expect them to decline because he wouldn't have the ball in his hands as much. His scoring efficiency might improve but not by much because he still can't shoot.

Cooper Flagg's shooting = three pointers were 29.5%. Long twos were 33.1%. He shot well inside of 15 feet. Not outside of 15 feet. Playing on a team with better offensive players would help him take fewer high degree difficult shots but he is still a poor off-ball player. His overall ppg and apg both benefitted from being on a bad Dallas team that allowed him far more touches and shot attempts than he would get on most other teams.

Kon on the other hand would command a similar amount of shots and touches regardless of what team he is on because of how efficient he is + how much spacing he provides for others + how good he is off-ball.

=====

That is not to say Cooper doesn't have more potential than Kon. Just that Kon had the better rookie year.

That is fair. A lot of mouths to feed in Charlotte. Will be interesting to see what they do with Bridges and White.

I think Coop's FGAs and PPG would have gone down in Charlotte.  His efficiency would have improved as he wouldn't be seeing consistent double teams.  He'd also be recognized more for his excellent defense.

Conversely, Kneuppel's scoring would have gone up, his efficiency would decrease (fewer open looks and more double teams) and his average to below average defense would be exposed more.
