Yahoo Sources: Ricky Rubio and Cleveland come to terms on a three-year, $18.4 deal.

That seems like a good value contract.

Absolutely, but I have to think Sexton is going to want out now. With Garland, Rubio, Lavert, Okoro, and Agbajl there isn't enough time or ball for Sexton.

I'd love to get him as the scoring punch off the bench. He's got a dog in him.

Shams Charania: New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson is nearing a five-year rookie max contract extension worth up to $231 million, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. The commitment will take Williamson’s new deal through the 2027-28 season. – via Twitter ShamsCharania
 Top Rumors, Zion Williamson,

$46 million per season for a guy with a lot of question marks.
Yikes

Really goes to show you how far talent and "potential" can take you.
I have far less concerns about that contract then pretty much every other max contract signed this summer (aside from Jokic).  Zion obviously has health concerns, but his talent and impact to winning are also unquestioned.  Those are both clearly max contract worthy.  The only issue is the injuries, and that is a big issue, but teams rarely discount contracts for injuries.

“Impact to winning is unquestioned.”  Where is the evidence to support this assertion?

Also players don’t hesitate to max contract because they have ability to force trade to their preferred destination before the ink has dried. I expect Zion to make a trade demand within two years if Pels are unable to compete for championship.

I think both sides will want a trade before too long.  The Pels gave him the max in part to preserve the asset.

Their record with Zion vs. without him.

2021 - 29-32 with him, 2-9 without him
2020 - 11-13 with him, 19-29 without him

He has a +4.7 and +1.7 per 100 possessions in both seasons and his on/off differential per 100 possessions is +7.6 and +5.6.

In other words, the Pelicans are significantly better with him playing at all and when is on the floor when he actually does play.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Yeah, that’s the first guy who’s agreed to the taxpayer MLE that I’ve wanted.

He played a very unique role for the Nets, and I think it may be hard for him to play that role on another team. He's a good backup to Aaron Gordon at the 4, but doesn't really make sense otherwise.

He probably will be awesome next to Jokic though, who has that affect on wings and guards.

Porter Jr., Harrell, Divencenzo, Warren, Gallinari, Nurkic, Sexton

Who might Brad have his heart set on?  And would any be available via our TPEs?

My guess is that the last two guys on that list won't be available in our price range.  Harrell is a bit of a question mark, because he's a dink in the locker room, but I think he'll get more than the TPE.

Of the four remaining guys -- Porter, DDV, Warren, Gallinari -- I'd be happy with any but DDV.  I'd probably rank them Warren, Gallinari, Porter based upon our scoring needs.

Gallo over Porter? Not me.
