Yeah, not too crushed by the defeat. Obviously it sucks, but I don't think either of the Jays have reached their peak yet. Reminds me of that Thunder team that made the Finals, except all our core is locked up long-term.

Just need to find a way to offset Horford's decline.
The Thunder were basically locked up long term also and they never got back (and yes I know Harden left, but that was because a cheap owner wouldn't pay like 1 million more a year to keep him).  And the Thunder lost in 5 to a clearly superior team.  The Warriors aren't a clearly superior team.  The reality is you have to capitalize on the opportunities because you never know if you will be back.  Dan Marino never made the Superbowl again after that first time.  A young Lebron led an upstart Cavs team to the 2007 Finals and over the next 3 years they not only never made the Finals again but also only went to the ECF one time (ECS the other 2) before he skipped town for Miami (and Lebron was obviously a superior player to Tatum, though the Cavs didn't have a Brown level player so that does help Boston).  Boston needs to win this because they may never be back and even if they are, they may never have as good a chance to actually win it as this year.

So yeah it is found money in the sense that the Middleton injury certainly opened the door this year for Boston, but it is also a series Boston should win as they have the better overall team (Curry is the best player though).  So they need to capitalize on it.

I was crushed by game 4's loss. It was the first full game I've watched in a month because of my nerves. It just felt like we gave it away and that loss will haunt this team for awhile. I also have wondered if this year was their chance. The league will get better next year. I think Stevens will be active as well, but it just felt like this was the main opportunity.

I chose not to watch game 5 because I knew we were going to lose.

But surprisingly, I'm doing ok with it now. I wonder if the Cs will come out swinging hard in game 6. We already know they aren't afraid of winning on the road (game 7). If they go into game 7 with some momentum and having figured some things out, it may be good.

I've got to say, this is the least emotionally invested in a Finals series involving the Celtics that I can remember.  Whatever the outcome, I think I'll be at peace.  If we win, obviously I'll be ecstatic, but if the team doesn't come through, I've enjoyed the ride.

This and most definitely this:

That said, I fully reserve the right to change my opinion after the inevitable screw job in Game 7, haha.

But…if we’re going to lose game 7 in another screw job like 2010, there’s nobody I’d rather lose to than Steph Curry. It will be emotionally draining to lose, of course, but losing to Steph is the guy you wanna lose to if you’re going to lose and nothing can be done to stop it. This would cement Curry’s legacy as a top ten NBA player, and probably put him ahead of KD. Would hate seeing all the replays over time of him overcoming the Celtics in his post-KD title, but at least it be met with a reminder about how wrong KD (with Kyrie as a footnote) was when he chose to leave the Warriors (and the Celtics for Kyrie when people talk about that footnote). All about the silver linings.

Yeah I don't care about losing to Curry and the Warriors. They're a dynasty team anyways that's going to fall apart after this year. I'm just glad that we finally got over that hump of the multiple ECF exits. But next year, we need to win it all. It's just nauseating to watch us lose to another yellow-colored team franchise.

I've seen the narrative that Steph would be top 10 all time and I just don't see how.  He isn't better than any of these 9 players without argument virtually across the board: Jordan, Lebron, Kareem, Duncan, Bird, Magic, Russell, Shaq, Wilt so for him to be top 10 he then has to be better than every single one of these players: Hakeem, Moses, Dr. J, Oscar, Kobe, Garnett, Durant, Giannis and that doesn't even get into guys like Charles, Dirk, or the Mailman (who obviously don't have the championships, but are higher up in many of the leaderboards).  There is a significantly better argument that Curry isn't top 15 all time then that he is in the top 10 all time and that won't change no matter the outcome of this series.

Not necessarily disagreeing, but perception/impact has a lot to do with it: Like Russell with rebounding/size/defense, Curry changed the game with his shooting. Two titles without KD (one before KD and one after KD) and just as many titles as LeBron (who owes 3 of his titles to AD/Wade, and don’t forget the Bubble!), bolsters the argument for top ten status.

Just need to find a way to offset Horford's decline.

Got a feeling we’ll be able to offset much of Horford’s decline with Batman if he continues to grow. Also have a feeling that Horford, like Karl Malone before him (it’s obvious they both take nutrition/conditioning extremely seriously), is going to be able to contribute until he’s 39-40 years old.
