The delta between this team’s best play and is worse is huge. Latest of the remaining teams, IMO. Simply showing up to the arena is not good enough. We will lose this series if we don’t focus and show up ready to fight. Ime has to beat that into them.

We win game 4, then I think we can steal one back in Miami. Close out opportunity in Boston again.

But we really can’t let this happen again. It happened in the Bucks series and it’s happened in this one twice. The fire needs to be there for 48 minutes. This is for the Finals. They need to be locked in at all times. Even during that comeback I was not convinced they were gonna win because they kept making forced, dumb passes and getting stripped and turning the ball over. It was infuriating.

But on to game 4. Thankfully we don’t have much time to linger on this one.

that's the thing - if they do, they're done for the year.

I have no doubt Boston is the better team. But copious amounts of turnovers and the fact they take quarters off might cost them the series.  If it does, what a missed opportunity.

I hope this gets addressed in the off-season. Still need a tough vet to help offset this.

My 4000th post

We will win game 4.

Go Celtics. This is not who we are.

We have always done best with our backs against the wall, and every time I have doubted them so far, they have pulled it out. But I really, really wish that that we don’t need to be at death’s door to play hard.

And kudos to JB. He’s taken a lot of crap these playoffs, but he looked like a star tonight.

Mike

Slept on last night before commenting. This is part of our growth process. A bipolar team who looks like a world beater on all ends of the court one night to being terrible in nearly every facet the next game.

I place a lot of this blame on coach. I get you ride your superstars but Tatum clearly didn’t have it last night. That pull up jump after he spun yo open court near the foul line where he front runner it (nearly air balled it) made it so incredibly obvious he wasn’t on. Coach needs to have the canines to say you’re not our best option. The best coaches (Pops, etc.) would do this if they assessed it.

We were within 1… momentum. Just shows that we need more growth before truly being there. Maybe we can shorten the learning curve and figure it out this postseason or maybe it becomes our demise. One way or another, we’re gonna find out.

Not going to lie, sleeping wasn’t easy last night after that atrocious game lol. Had a nightmare too briefly where the C’s lost the series in Game 7  :P

Call me crazy but that was probably the most annoying game I’ve seen from the Celtics all year and that includes a lot of the games earlier in the season and even Game 5 of the last series.

It’s an ECF game, at home, and you turn it over 24 times???

And I bet 1/3 of them didn’t even require a MIA player to move or make a play, they just got the ball thrown at them or Jaylen/Smart literally dribbled and “handed” it to the defender

In [his] 20 second-half minutes, Oladipo had four steals (twice as many as the Boston team for the entire game) and eight pass deflections (one more than the Celtics).

Agreed.  This is a talented and immature team. The hope is that this these playoffs will help their development.  If they aren't ready, they aren't ready.  But getting ready requires learning from your experiences which I hope they are able to do.

To be fair, every other team has been thrashed in the playoffs except us:

Dallas - lost 112-87 vs GS (25 pts). Lost to Phx by 20 and 30 pts
GS - lost 134-95 to Mem (39 pts)
Mia -lost 127-87 to Bos (25 pts). Lost to Phi by 20 pts
Mil - lost 109-81 to Bos (28 pts)
Phil - lost 120-85 to Mia (35 pts). Lost to Tor by 15 pts
Phx - lost 123-90 to Dal (33 pts).
Mem - lost 142-112 to GS (30 pts). Also lost to GS by 16

Our worst loss was a 12 pt loss to Mil, followed by an 11 pt loss to Mia, both opening games of the series. The problem is, and I think what you mean by the delta between good and bad being large, is that there have been lapses in the games when they have been really bad, and been blown out in a quarter. We have won 10 of the 12 quarters in this series but the 2 we lost, we lost badly enough to end up losing the games. It suggests a concentration thing as opposed to us not being good enough. I'm hoping that because that's the case, learning through painful experience will be enough for them to be able to cut that out of their performance.

Yeah fair point. I don’t put too much stock into the “won quarters” thing, though. Do we win the next 3 last night if they don’t blow us out in the first and maybe let off the gas a bit? Maybe, hard to say. What’s for sure is that one bad quarter can cost the game — and yeah, exactly, with this team you can go from being horrendous one quarter to excellent the next.

Just finished watching the game...what a horror show.

deserved loss...try again next game.  The tone of the game was so bad that I didn't want any of our injured guys coming back...

just stay away so maybe a new tone can be set...

The team needs Robert Williams and without him the C's will lose in this series or in the finals...
hope he can make it back without hurting his overall recovery..

Heat-Celtics series seems to follow a predictable pattern: Team that plays harder and smarter has won all 3 games. I expect that trend to continue.
