Giannis was just on today.  Didn't really matter who was guarding him, he just did whatever he wanted to do, whenever he wanted to do it.  There is a reason he is BY FAR the best player in the world.  He is just a man among boys out there.
You mean Mr. Bowling Ball?  Hey Mr. Ball, you are not going to get those non-calls every game.  Best player? ha.  Jokic is far more skilled and Embiid is as well.
this post is just nonsense.  Giannis is without question the best player in the world. It isn't close

How do you figure Giannis is better? Jokic leads him in almost every statistical category. He led the Nuggets to 48 wins without having the 2nd and 3rd best player on his team.. please explain.

Giannis plays defense.  He is the best defender in the sport (or at least top 3).  Jokic is better than a guy who can't guard a chair, but not much.  Giannis is much more versed offensively.  He can handle the ball and has the ability to blow by people, back them down, etc.  Jokic has never had and never will the ability to apply that sort of pressure.  That also allows Giannis to get to the line a lot.  He just puts pressure on you defensively because you can't take him out of his game.  Jokic was incredibly ineffective in large portions of the Warriors series playing against a team whose starting center was Kevon Looney and who often had a 6'7" Draymond playing center.  And Jokic couldn't do anything for large stretches of the series.  The Nuggets were actually significantly better when Jokic wasn't in the game in the playoffs.  Even when Giannis is off, the Bucks are almost always better with him on the floor, especially in the post season.

I think he's the best player in the world too, but I disagree that it's not close.  I think it is close and we will know the truth in less than two weeks. The C's are a perfect test.

Whenever a player has achieved clear separation from everyone else, historically, their team has become roughly a 50/50 bet to win a title. It usually takes a very talented team to stop such a player, and there really are no breakout teams this year, except possibly us.

Giannis has the gifts to claim such a position, but he hasn't so far. If that's what he is, he will roll through us, Miami/Philly and Phoenix and be champ again, because Embiid is compromised and there isn't a rival player left to stand against him. I don't think Doncic and the Mavs have enough. So Giannis is in a great position to run the table again.

But what I see is that it looks like this Celtics team may be able to take him down. Minus one of the worst game of Tatum's career, we'd be easily up 2-1.

So these playoffs will tell us if you are right.

Brown just isn't big enough to defend a motivated Giannis.   Grant and Horford are strong enough that the first move into the spin doesn't move them off far enough to allow the spin to be that open compared to when Brown is defending.

Grant picking up his 5th foul and Rob Williams not being a good defender for Giannis put the Celtics into a tough position.

Jokic wins MVP.  Guess we were right.  Giannis is certainly not top 3 in defense in my mind...not even top 5.

Well, then the Best Player in the World didn't finish in the top 2 for MVP this year.

On the above -- Giannis is deeply reliant on friendly officiating, in a way neither Jokic or Embiid are. Which is nice for him, because 99% of the time he gets it. But the reason he can have an afternoon by Saturday is due to officiating.

Constant Offensive Foul no calls? Check.

Giving his Defensive Fouls to another Buck in the general vicinity? Check.

Blatant Traveling? Check.

Blatant Goaltending? Check.

Because he basically can't shoot (and therefore doesn't), he's totally reliant on these elements for success. If Joey Crawford were still around and decided he wanted to call a game "by the book", Giannis would be totally hosed.

Kinda. Jaylen's less effective on Giannis in large part because he's not disciplined. He's impatient and gambles far too often. Did it twice in crunch time, leading to easy lay-ups.

Ah yes because MVP = best player.  That has never been the case.  Sure, the best player sometimes wins the MVP, but more often than not, the best player does not in fact win the MVP.  That is why Lebron only has 4.  He was pretty clearly the best player in the world for over a decade, yet only has 4 MVP's.

I don't get it? Grant and Horford are clearly the 2 best defenders against Giannis, but down the stretch Brown was on him 3 or 4 plays in a row.  Why let them do this?

It was a head scratcher for me....
Because with Giannis, you're [dang]ed if you don't [dang]ed if you do.  Whatever we were doing against Giannis up to that point CLEARLY was not working.  So trying something different not a bad idea.

The mvp award always makes my eyes roll . The Jordan years where the award is given to KARL MALONE! Come on. It would be one thing if the award was clearly defined.
It should be most outstanding player award - that’s when Westbrook would make sense and guys like that.
Pivotal player should be an award given at the end that has to do with team success. Not that it can’t still be Jokic taking a very mediocre at best squad to playoffs but it would just allow a little more thought.

And yet he SHOULD HAVE BEEN fouled out in the second with all the missed offensive fouls.  He has 2 tricks.  Run through people. and seal them off with a spin move where he fouls the defender 50% of the time with his off hand.  Now the second one is common to get away with, but he gets away with more charges than anyone I have seen....ever.

Just need to keep Horford and Grant on him as much as possible.  If they make adjustments that makes that plan not work as well, then we need to make some little adjustments as well.  Make Giannis as uncomfortable as possible.

This - anyone but Jaylen/Smart or where he has significant size advantage as refs will call against us since they will just call low fouls etc (invisible ones) - need to be careful not to get into foul trouble early by half time and we should have at least same opportunity as last game hopefully if Bucks dont somehow go nuclear lol - cmon Tatummmmmmmmmm prove everyone wrong drop 40 :D
