It seems to be the end of an era for the Utah Jazz.

With Joe Ingles already gone, the trio of Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell & Quin Snyder are the last remanence of the Miller family connection. With a new young ownership group, repetitive playoff failures and Danny Ainge in the front office, sweeping changes seem inevitable.

I am curious what people think will play out in Utah, considering there are so many plausible permutations.

Balls. I voted wrong. Didn't read the question first. Figured you'd ask who got traded, instead of who stayed :]

Gobert, I think (voted Mitchell because I'm an idiot)

Hoping Utah realises which of the two is the more unique asset.

(Cuz I'm a closeted Utah man)

Unique doesn't necessarily mean better. I have no idea what's gonna happen, but if I were Danny, I'd try to swap Gobert for Ayton and I'd keep Snyder and Mitchell. Imo, Snyder may be the best head coach in the NBA. I'm not super high on Mitchell, but I doubt they can get fair value for him.

No. I wasn't implying better! :)

You can see Rudy like Rob. Not the most offensively gifted player. But there's nothing better on defense than him.

So, unique in that he's the hardest to replace.

I'd trade the guy that looks like a turnstile on defence 10/10 times.

He's obviously an elite rim protector, but he's effective only in a drop scheme on defense. Generally speaking, I'm low on drop bigs unless they are offensive juggernauts like Jokic or Embiid. Look no further than Game 2 against the Bucks. They were starting a drop big in BroLo, plus two more bigs in Giannis and Portis. We couldn't score in the paint, but we were scoring loads of points from the perimeter. The game has changed a lot during the pace-and-space era. Rim protectors like Gobert aren't as effective as they used to be.

Maybe Ainge will trade Mitchell like he did Al Jefferson here for something super unexpected.

Ainge will be a legendary executive.

I think the Jazz need both Mitchell & Gobert to make any noise, but I'm not sure what the ceiling for the team actually is if they're your two best players.

I think they will trade Gobert, but I'd trade Mitchell.  He is too much like Westbrook as a player i.e. a smaller player that can score, but that is not a good decision maker, not very efficient, and a terrible defender.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

Any way they can attach something to move on from Conley? If they are going to keep Mitchell they can't keep that backcourt together defensively. They made Brunson look like Kobe Bryant and obviously Conley is going to continue declining at

A week ago or so, I proposed this

Minnesota - Gobert, Conley
Utah - Hayward, Beasley, Rozier
Charlotte - Russell, McDaniels

I think that makes a fair amount of sense for all 3 teams.  So Utah would trade Gobert and Conley and get Hayward, Beasley, and Rozier.  I think that would make them better even though they'd have a hole in the middle.  They need a play maker like Hayward and some actual good scorers outside of Mitchell which Beasley and Rozier are.  They'd need to find a big guy, but I think that would work for them.  The Wolves add Gobert and Conley for Russell, Beasley, and McDaniels.  I think that makes them a lot better though does move Towns to PF.  I do think Gobert can cover a lot Towns defensive deficiencies, and that would make the Wolves very difficult to defend on the other side of the floor.  Conley would be a good floor general for Edwards, but this clearly makes this Edwards team moving forward, which I think would be good for them.  Charlotte saves a ton of long term money and gets a "star" in Russell who I think would play well next to Ball.  McDaniels is a decent young big man prospect, but Charlotte does this to reset their cap before Ball has to sign his extension.

I see a RG trade on the horizon, something like Rudy for Wiggins and Wiseman makes sense.

Trade 1 - Golden State -- Gobert for Wiggins and Wiseman.
Trade 2 - Lakers -- Conley, Clarkson, Royce O'Neal, Rudy Gay for Westbrook, unprotected 2027 1st rounder and pick swap.

I bet Ainge reboots along these lines, clearing the books for the future.

Westbrook - $47 M
Wiggins - $34 M
Bojan - $20 M
Hernangomez - $7 M
--------------------------

Almost $110 Million coming off the books with some decent talent and Bird Rights for Wiggins in place.

They could trade Conley for Kimba Walker  :)
