Tatum and Horford are out tonight.  Rest of rotation (sans Rob) are likely playing (although Smart is listed as probable.)

Makes sense.

Also, Brown is only playing to get his 65 game bonus of $446,429. He won't play long.

We’ll see.  I expect Sunday he’ll play only a possession, but my feeling is he plays 25-35 minutes tonight.
Is it 65 or 66 games? Tonight is 65 if he plays.

Its 65.
I don't see why tonight wouldn't be the short run, and then a DNP next game.
I wanted to try and win tonight, but if we win trying to lose then what, if we win?
ATL beats MIA
CLE beats BKN
PHI beats TOR

Even if we lose tonight there are still bad matchups out there.

Well unless we finish 4th and draw Toronto and JB is ineligible for 2-3 games.

The guy that needs the rest the most is JB. But he needs to play for his incentive. Let's see if he tweaks his wrist 2 minutes into the first Quarter.

I've got to think that Brown has the vaccine by now.

I kind of want to play Toronto just so he can play and we can stop hearing the rumors, or he can not play and I can be disappointed and pick a new favorite Celtic.
I'm with you on this point.
People ask why they would make the statements if vaccinated, why not just say I'm vaccinated?
Ime said healthy players would be eligible. Jaylen missed that game due to health. Al for personal reasons. Stevens wouldn't commit definitely.

I don't want to be a conspiracy nut but...
Maybe Al got or will get vaccinated if that is what it comes down to.
JB, I'm not so sure.

I hope this isn't the case.
There is a 14 day wait after the last vaccine dose before a player is eligible to play in Canada.
I believe they accept the J&J one dose.
The soonest we could play in Toronto is 4/19, so 4/5 to get the vaccine?

At this point, I'm not sure why people think they aren't already vaccinated. There was a team dinner in Toronto back in November that both Horford and Brown attended, but Schroder and Richardson did not due to Canadian rules at the time. I'm just not sure how they could have attended that dinner 'legally' if they were not vaccinated. Furthermore, why would Jaylen praise the NBA's and WNBA's vaccination efforts back at the beginning of the season if he himself wasn't vaccinated? I think we just need to let this narrative go, unless it becomes clear that all of these guys were clearly lying.

Canada changed their rules Jan 15, prior to that professional athletes were except.
I hope your right, but if it is so simple to imply your vaccinated, why is it so difficult to state your vaccinated?

I believe Canada allowed unvaccinated athletes into the country prior to Jan 15th, but they couldn't leave their hotel rooms other than going to the game.

As far as Jaylen not answering outright, he's a VP of the NBPA - he has to consider that role when discussing a topic as volatile as vaccine status. He has to representative of all players, not just a faction. Besides, people don't have to disclose medical information if they don't want to. The vaccine has made the public entitled in thinking that athletes and celebs have to disclose private medical information when it's demanded.

I think the new rules are as of January.

Mike

The rules for playing were in January, but in November unvaccinated athletes had to quarantine in their hotel when they weren’t playing.  So the point is that if Brown and Horford could go out to dinner with everyone, they’re either vaccinated or broke a rule that the non-vaccinated Richardson and Schröder adhered to.

If Tatum and Horford are sitting, we're basically tanking. IMO, should've played everyone to try to win this game, then send a skeleton crew to Memphis on Sunday.
The Bucks may decide to tank too ya know.

I am willing to give Jaylen some run. I don't think he thinks Bill Gates has inserted a microchip.

EDIT: we've probably strayed to much from the thread. I'm worried Jaylen is in eligible to play due to his convictions. The merits of his convictions is probably better on a separate thread. Sorry everyone else. If Jaylen doesn't play because of this its basketball, if not it isn't

Sgrogan you sound young. Don't buy into everything the media tells you as it's being funded in large part by companies like Pfizer and Moderna. This all said, I would be shocked if Jaylen or anyone else in the rotation pulled a Kyrie with the playoffs here.

This team really does seem like it's together and committed to making as deep a playoff run as it can.

So many of the Celtics are in an offensive groove, you have to play them to keep them in that groove as much as possible, since the team is getting a week or so off anyway while the play ins happen.

No need to rest, rest will be there. Play to win and let the seedings happen as they may. No need to attempt to game the seedings. Win out. Get that HCA as much as possible. It can be important.

Look at our last title. Atlanta(w/Joe Johnson, Horford, Josh Smith, Bibby, Marvin Williams), Cleveland(w/Lebron), Detroit(w/almost all of 2004 champions intact), LAL. Celtics played 26 out of a maximum 28 playoff games and HCA was huge during that title run.

To be a champion, you gotta beat everyone and anyone put in your way. Go for it Celtics!
