Here is how ridiculous and impressive Kareem Abdul Jabar (and even Karl Malone) scoring record is
….he (they) scored all those points without basically the help of 3 pointers. And so, if you replace LeBrons 3s with 2s; I wonder how close to breaking the record he really is?🧐
Perhaps there should be “before” and “after” 3pt era for scoring records.
Subtract 2134. So, it would probably add a bit more than a season to his pursuit.
I never buy that argument. If we are to assume that Lebron would have still taken roughly those 6161 3 pointers (he made 2130 or 6390 points), but instead they were 2 point attempts, and if he hit those at his career average of 55.2%, he would have made 3401 2 pointers or scored 6802 points (without accounting for FT's on those - which are more likely than 3's). In other words, Lebron would have scored more points if those 3 point shots were converted to 2 point shots.
Lebron would have thrived in any era because Lebron is not only a physical specimen but also an intelligent and very skilled player.
