What player puts the Cs over the top

 Im talking about guys not in the top 25 in the leauge and guys that are somewhat gettable. Would any of these players put the celtics over the top.

 Please include any players you believe would take the celtics to title town. Im including 1 top 25 player just for discussion. Derozan do we win it all with him? Makes for a roster jam.

Cam johnson plays like a Celtic- Unselfish- plays hard but i think we have enough wings. Cam Really has stepped up man. Wood not so much a little lazy since he got to houston- Houston can do that to a player- night life- hes young probably having to much fun.

I am surprised people still think we need a PG.  Sure, there are better PGs in the league than Marcus Smart but is that really an area of need?

PF is the position that we will need to address.  Horford and Grant Williams have been above expectation this season but Horford isn't going to last and Grant is not quite a starter level.  A good PF puts us over the top (or keeps us there) for the next several seasons.

Christian Wood is the only one from the list that is a PF/Big.  Not sure he would be the one to target but someone like him is exactly what we need.

Kyle Anderson. A low usage "connective" player. Memphis may overpay to resign him with his bird rights but there are not a lot of teams that will have cap space so with anyone other than Memphis the MLE his likely max offer.

I agree with your thoughts.  I don't know anything about Wood but I do know Horford means a LOT to this team and we should be looking to get a new Al Horford.

Firstly, I have been of the opinion for about 7 weeks that we’re championship caliber as is this year, so no particular player puts us “over the top”.  We have enough.

But of guys who could conceivably be available next summer, I’d love an Aaron Nesmith-Luke Kennard swap.  Having a true sniper from the wing who comes off the bench is the one thing we’re lacking.  It’d send the C’s reasonably into the tax for a season, but this core hopefully has shown ownership they’re worthy of paying it.

I agree with your thoughts.  I don't know anything about Wood but I do know Horford means a LOT to this team and we should be looking to get a new Al Horford.

Horford means a lot to the team in all the ways Wood is found lacking.

Marcus Smart has been All-Star level since the calendar turned to 2022.  I know that's hard for some people here to admit, but it's true.

A healthy Rob Williams has been a game changer this year .  He maybe the third piece and I’m leaning that way myself .    Because you subtract him and no amount of Bradley Beals can do what he does . Rob is a player this team has needed for a very very very long time.

I am not there yet but I am wondering about this also.

The more I look at the NBA this year the more I believe the league has reverted to where it was in 2015 more than 2021 in terms of offensive vs defensive importance due to rule changes on defense.

Sorta early days Warriors when the Bogut - Draymond axis was key to their title run. Defense still not as key as say 2010 or 2000 or 1990 or earlier but more important than it has been for the last few years. With both Boston and Cleveland showing levels of success I would not expect in 2021 or 2020.

Historically, any team that has Boston's level of defense + a solid offense, and even two big time scorers in Boston's case, is a Championship level ball club. I would doubt this in 2021 or 2020 because I believe floor spacing / three point shooting / team offense took on such a larger role ... but I do wonder whether we are back now in 2015 NBA where offense is important but not all becoming.
