Some rumors circulating of Brady possibly going to Miami. Unlikely to be credible, but that would be wild.

Jeff Howe, who is pretty reliable, shot those down last night.

Yeah, without knowing anything about this...

Why for Bucs?  Brady gives them a great chance to reach the Super Bowl.

Why for Brady?  He's familiar with the personnel down there, has a great offense, and has been actively recruiting guys.

It just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Howe basically said that Brady is out there pitching free agents to come to TB.  So why would he be trying to finagle a move to MIA.

Not sure how I feel about the OT rule change for the playoffs. It shows that the NFL is devaluing on defenses. Defense is part of the game, hold them off for three downs and force them to punt or force a turnover.

Strange that the proposals are coming from teams who've never sniffed playoff wins for a while or Superbowls in ages. I'd think teams like the Chiefs, Falcons, and Bills would fire this up.

Sources: The #Dolphins are trading WR DeVante Parker to the #Patriots in exchange for late-round draft pick compensation. Parker lands at a perfect place with stability he’s been wanting, while MIA gains financial flexibility.

"Late round draft pick"

*Is a 3rd rounder lol*

But I actually love this move. Health is the key of course, but if Parker can stay healthy this is a very nice low risk, high reward type move. Suddenly I feel a bit better about our passing game with Henry, Parker, Bourne and Meyers along with James White who is versatile. Plus you hope maybe they can get one more guy to contribute (can Jonnu and/or Agholor take the 2nd year leap here? or draft another WR)

And if Greg Oden could have stay healthy he would’ve been a hall of famer.  ;)

I like Parker. I think he'll look a lot more like he did in 2019-20 with Mac throwing him the ball. Him, Meyers, Bourne and Agholor as our four receivers, plus Henry, Smith & James White should be some fun. I like that we're moving away from FB sets.

Hopefully Harris and Stevenson still get heaps of runs.

If you pretend the JC Jackson compensatory pick is a 5th rounder, rather than a 3rd rounder, then it's like the Pats gave up nothing! His salary is also very manageable.

Solid move with some real upside potential. Parker was out several games last year, but had a very productive two seasons before that. Don't love that he is 29, but he's hardly aged out of the NFL. Really hoping this works out - seems like it has the potential to as long as he stays healthy.

The trade for Parker is a good one. One angle I like is it frees up the Pats to select BPA for the first few picks. It probably is still good business to select a WR in the first three rounds, but if they don't its not the end of the world.

The JC Jackson comp pick in the 3rd round shouldn't even be mentioned. It's not like it was part of the deal.

One other thing to consider, Odell is still unsigned and the Pats have had interest on him. OBJ and Belichick seem to have mutual respect too. He won't be back until like December probably, but if his market is hampered the Pats could consider signing him to one of those 2-year, big-money kind of deals filled with options/incentives and quite a bit of guaranteed 2nd year money when he should be fully healthy again. It's another kind of shrewd move I could see the Pats making.

Drafting a WR is definitely another option. My feeling though is the focus on the Draft will be on defense (particularly LBs - young and speedy ones) and maybe one more O-Line since they lost Karras and Shaq Mason during the offseason.

I really want us to draft Troy Andersen. Will be a LB in the pros, but played QB and RB in college too. Would be a super fun weird versatile weapon. Great athlete. There are some good LBs available

I’m a fan as well. When Parker is on the field, he's a very good WR. Only played in 16 games 1 season, which was 3 years ago and he had 1200yards receiving and 9TD’s with Ryan Fitzpatrick as QB. Even last year with Tua he had 500 yards receiving with 2TD's in only 10 games. Plus, Just turned 29 in Jan, so hopefully he's got a few good years in him. Parkers salary for this season and next is just over $6M/year. Absolute steal.

Yeah very true. Just look at what guys are getting in the market nowadays. He's also 29 y/o so he's still theoretically in his prime.

Perhaps the strangest trade I've ever seen in the NFL today.

Per Schefter

TRADE: Eagles sending picks No. 16, No. 19 and No. 194 in the sixth round to the Saints in exchange for pick No. 18, No. 101 in the third round, No. 237 in the 7th round AND a 2023 first-round pick and 2024 second-round pick, per sources.

Those type of trades on draft day happen all of the time when teams target specific players, but to make that sort of random trade well before the draft I've never seen.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
