I hope he can actually shoot. Shooters who can’t shoot (like Carsen Edwards or Nesmith) drive me crazy.
Stauskas has shown he can shoot the 3 at a very good level in the NBA, he is just terrible at everything else and isn't an uber elite shooter so he was out of the league for 3 years.  He should be able to hit shots for Boston, but he shouldn't get any playing time unless the team is down 3 and needs to hit a shot.

He can be our Eddie House

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
He is in his prime ready to shine. He will have the looks and I think he will hit them. Brad is looking and that is good to see. I am excited to watch his stroke. It looked good in the past.

Yeah, I genuinely think he will get a chance to prove himself. He is likely already the 10th man in the rotation and has the potential to take any minutes that would have otherwise gone to Nesmith. This signing should not be compared to Kornet, Hauser, Fitts, Martin, Thomas, or Ryan...okay, maybe Kornet, but only if like Theis and Horford both got injured.

The Cs took their time with this signing, the guy is 28 years old, and has real life NBA experience. I'm excited to see what he brings.

People really need to stop quoting G League stats as if they translate to future success in the NBA. Because they don't. The list of players with off the charts G League stats that couldn't make even a microscopic solid impact in the Association is mind bogglingly long.

I really hope Staukas can do something positive for this team, but I'm not expecting him to get any rotational playing time, nor should anyone else. Guys who know the system and play defense get playing time. Staukas is neither of those things.

He'll probably be behind Broderic Thomas and Sam Hauser on the depth chart.

But they signed him to a 2 year deal....Brad must think he can play a bit, gotta be better than Nesmith.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Is that 2nd year even guaranteed? If not, it basically an invite to camp contract.

He still hasn’t signed yet.  I’m getting nervous this will be a repeat of the Javale McGee situation a few years ago, where something about how year two worked wasn’t completely agreed to and it fell apart at the last minute.  Luckily Mark Bartelstein tends to be more professional than BJ Armstrong, and I’m hopeful he’s just waiting on a physical.

For what it’s worth, I think there will be a small guarantee ($100k-$300k) that comes into play if he’s still on the roster somewhere between July 1st and August 1st, similar to how Parker’s deal was structured last year.

This.  Pump the brakes a bit on the Stauskas signing.

Stauskas is a warm emergency body similar to how Parker was. He will never ply and if he does the Cs are in trouble.

He can shoot 3s, but .389 overall fg % in his 6 year career.  If he doesn't play D, his role should be extremely limited.  He is like Hauser but a 2.

Maybe Pop can unlock him.  I don't know.

Pop Unlock.  Great move for break dancing.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

I see Larkin type impact more than Parker.

Larkin was a bonafide euro league player. Stauskas is not. I have a hard time believing Stauskas has much impact.

Stauskas has just as many seasons of decent NBA production as Larkin does (2-3)

Given Ime’s rotations I don’t think he sees the floor unless there’s an injury or a blowout.
