I agree with your first paragraph.  You're probably giving Connelly too much credit for the Timberwolves, though.  Conley and NWA are solid players, but they're not why the Twolves got by Denver.

He hit on Hauser as an UDFA after the draft and Queta [kind-of] as a young pick-up. I agree that this draft in particular needs to yield at least one eventual rotation piece. It's too early to tell on Scheierman, but it looks like Walsh and JD aren't going to make it.

Nope, Scheirman and Gonzalez are the only first rounders Brad has ever made. Here's the ENTIRE list of guys he's drafted:

Juhann Begarin- #45 in 2021 (Never came over, C's still have his rights, still only 22 as of now)
Sam Hauser- Undrafted free agent in 2021 (Starting a 4/45 contract)
JD Davidson- #53 in 2022 (C's have team option for next year).
Jordan Walsh- #38 in 2023
Baylor Scheierman- #30 in 2024
Anton Watson- #54 in 2024 (waved last year)
Hugo Gonzalez- #28 in 2025
TBD - #32 in 2025

In other words Brad has pretty much no track record to base anything off from. Before Baylor Scheierman last year (who I thought showed some interesting flashes in limited playing time) he'd never made a pick higher than #38. 28 and 32 this year will be the highest and 3rd highest he's ever picked. To his credit he did sign Sam Hauser as an undrafted free agent in 2021, that's a pretty good get.

I imagine there will be more minutes to go around with Tatum out this year. So we'll know much more about Brad as a drafter by the end of this next season. We'll have a third season of Walsh, a 2nd of Scheierman and the rookie years of Hugo and #32 to judge him on him on.

This is the perfect chance for him.  Give him a 1 year deal with a couple of team options.  2025-26 will be his make or break season.  He will be 23 by the start of the season.  He has been a pro for 3 seasons already.  23 isn't young for him at this point.  I would say good chance he makes the team with a regular roster spot.  Maybe we keep our 2nd round pick on a 2-way.  Maybe this is the time for Begarin to be a 2-way.
