I know Derrick White isn’t some superstar, but he’s 100% plug and play.  No worries about fitting him in, the kind of guy that seems to give the game what it needs.  We’re definitely better, and I think that’s good enough to make some noise this year.  I think we’ll get to the top half of the standings.

Can be the Heat from the bubble?  I’m ready, let’s go.

I think we still need a body from the buyout market, probably a big.  As much as I love Timelord, the center rotation is still a bit weak with only Theis and Horford backing him up.  Ime will probably continue with the double-big starting lineup so Horford can't play a whole lot at center. I feel the ship has sailed on the Grant-at-center small-ball experiment.

At the very least, we still need a "big-dude-at-the-end-of-the-bench-waving-a-towel" role player in case a big goes down.

Yeah, MA needs to legalize sports betting immediately.

You know, gambling is associated with sociopaths, so…lol jk, buddy

I do like our odds this year if injuries happen to others and JT/JB both go beast mode. But I’d never bet on a Celtics game. It’s hard enough to handle the losses and no high is better than that high of June 18, 2008 (just like no low is worse than that low of June 17, 2010….)

Don’t want to be a downer but Celtics has played a very easy schedule the last 3 weeks..going to wait until we play top teams to get excited
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Oh don't worry, the next loss and you'll see the "Ime has got to go", "is Tatum an elite player" and other similar threads pop up again and it'll be doom and gloom again  :P

Definitely agree, but they have won 7 straight, have beaten some quality teams in that stretch and they are also winning games they definitely would lose like 2 months ago. There's progress and fortunately we're healthy too

I don't blame people, myself included, for overreacting to a bad/uneven start to the year.

I used to make the same bet every year in Vegas during Summer League....The one time I forgot to bet was 2007---and a few weeks later they got KG.

Just want to add that the Celtics now have the third best odds to win the title in the nba according to 538.  Seems crazy and may not mean much, but I’m excited to see what happens.

I have them 7th. I have 4 teams ahead of them in the East and only 2 ahead of them in West (Warriors, Suns). Of the four Eastern teams, one is close to Boston (Miami) and two have big question marks next to them (Brooklyn, Philly).

TP for the honesty, and I don’t think we were overreacting, just reacting to a first half of the season start that was playing WAY below our potential, reaching its nadir at the Portland game,  one of the most embarrassing losses I can remember in my 60+ years as a Celtic fan, and described as the same by Scal. He was not getting thru to the players who supposedly chose him, and that’s on him.

His lack of varied offensive schemes, his stubborn reliance on his small rotation so our players were gassed at the end of games (which is why so many teams, including Portland who held us to zero (yeah, that means none) baskets in the last 7 minutes came back to beat us), his refusing to play the bench and let them learn from their mistakes so either (a. They would be useful to us or (b. To increase their trade value, his crappy (I don’t care what that dumb stat said) ATOs and his so many in game blunders, all the while keeping himself in an echo chamber with his staff are all good reasons to say he was coaching crappily. He was, absolutely.

So no, I don’t think we were overreacting. We would have won 6-10 more games in the first 50 games of the season, but for Ime.

Perk called him out numerous times for many of the things enumerated above. Perk said he wasn’t holding the players accountable.

I don’t know what changed, but I’m thrilled that it has.

So maybe we got our wish and the old Ime is gone, and a new coach Ime is here. Time will tell. He now has DW whom he wanted, and I’m thrilled that he has, and we got Theis back, about which I am also thrilled. The East is in a volatile state…

Let’s make a run….Go Cs!
