Peyton Pritchard is not Dennis Schroeder and Harrison Barnes is not so much better than Josh Richardson that we make up that ground.

The drop is perimeter defense here is massive. Pritchard is a liability on both ends because teams know they can press him into turnovers with guards slightly bigger than him. On the other end he can’t defend size or speed.

I love Barnes but anyway we get there, imo, we get worse. We can’t trade Al because we have no big depth.

Can Schroeder defend size or speed?

IMO our only options for getting better this trade deadline are bringing in salary via tpe and sending out a handful of picks. That could include protected picks from a Schroeder trade but we would have to bring in a back up ball handler.

Pritchard can’t play in the playoffs. Teams will switch him into isos and eat him alive. I like the kid but he really lacks size and speed.

IMO we need big depth in case Al goes down. Keep Schroeder and find a way to bring in a decent 4 that can shoot and defend.

Yes. He is not a plus defender but is assertive and competitive. Has great length for his size. Say what you will but the dude is a high quality back up point guard. To unfavorably compare his defensive ceiling and current output to Pritchards is being willfully ignorant.

Sacramento is now amenable to trading Harrison Barnes, per reports.

Does a Horford and Freedom and picks for Barnes and Len make sense? Could Brad close that deal?

I don't think they would.

What about Richardson + Schroder for Barnes?

We can’t trade 2/3 of our bench without getting worse.

Sure we can.  Barnes takes Richardson's spot, and Pritchard takes Schroder's.

People have been trying to finagle a deal for Barnes for years.  I have nothing against Barnes I just don't see this deal as making sense for either team.  I am not sure this saves SAC enough to have them want to do it.  And I do feel loose depth.

The Kings are trying to win now so I don't think they are dumping Barnes. He's one of their only shooters now.

That is true.  Trading for Sabonis and Holiday isn't exactly blowing it up.  They still have a nice role for Barnes.  It was reported that they are trying to move Barnes though so I understand people trying to craft potential trades.

Are the Kings trying to win now? They're shopping Barnes, but theoretically keeping him would make more sense for a team that's trying to win. The biggest suitors for Barnes are teams that are contenders or playoff teams trying to level up, so any return for him is going to be pick/young player based. The Kings have never given the impression that they know what they're trying to do. I don't think that's changed.

I think they are still sellers. Maybe do Freedom and Schro to Bucks for Donte and Semi.

They would run Brad Stevens out of Dodge if he brought back Semi in a trade haul,  I fear.
