Given that the Cavs are the surprise of the NBA, and have done it despite losing Rubio and Sexton for year, and Garland for a decent stretch, I think they definitely deserve a second all-star more than the Celtics. (Although this was a much easier argument to make 3 weeks ago).

I think it will be Allen due to the Cavs success, and thus the team being deemed more worthy of having two All-Stars.  Also, there’s a bit of poetry in Allen, who was traded for Harden barely a year ago, being named replacement after all the drama the last few weeks.

James Harden is going to miss the all-star game.  Who will be his replacement?

Jaylen has to be high on the list, right?  I'm not sure where our tax situation stands if he does participate.  Others who will obviously be considered:  Pascal Siakim, Jarrett Allen, Jrue Holiday

People seem to think it's between Jaylen/Siakam or Jarrett Allen.
I gotta think of those 3 Jaylen gets the nod.

Why JB over Siakim?

I think Siakim is probably having a slightly better year.

yeah Siakam is having a good year.  a little more efficient.

that just makes me wish the C's could figure out a way to trade for him!

Smart / Brown / Tatum / Siakam / Timelord

If the Raptors want to blow it up after the year, I’d give them Horford and a lot of picks for Siakam.  I’ve wanted him next to the J’s for a long time, and tho I love Al, Siakam instead of him on this roster is a title favorite in my mind.  We’d be even more of a nightmare defensively with better offense.

I can’t see the Raptors wanting to blow it up, however, so the best offer I have is 1sts in 23, 25, and 27 and Horford for Siakam, Trent, and Birch, which leaves the Raptors with max cap space this summer, so they can get a ton of picks and a major free agent to pair with FVV, Anunoby, and Barnes.  Celtics have a payroll through the roof in this scenario, too, so it’s definitely not happening for many reasons.  But I’m going to keep dreaming for a bit.

Yes, that had been my calculus too, but I forgot to include it.  I think Allen is a virtual lock -- I think the real decision is what happens should Lavine have to sit out.  It's probably a toss-up between Brown and Siakam at that point, with Jrue getting some consideration.

As always; JB's my fave' Celtic.

Still, gotta agree with this.

Siakam is balling his brain out.

Per Shams, Allen will indeed be replacing Harden.

It’s official:  Allen is getting the spot.
