Leaving aside the Tax for a moment... I'm not in the camp that feels its important to keep Schroder, if we can get a real player or pick in return.
Is Schroder going to win us games in the playoffs? Could he win us 1 game? Maybe. And regardless, we're unlikely to be any kind of real contender -- even if we go on a decent run to, say, the EC Finals.
Meanwhile, the Cs asset pool is poor. Our total mismanagement of young talent and bench assets has left the cupboard really bare. Do Lameford, Nosmith or Pricthard have any actual value around the league? If the do, it's really minimal. So we're left with picks in the middle of the first round going forward.
So if the Cs can get either: a) a pick above 40 in the upcoming draft (or 2023), or b) a rotation player, with Bird rights, I believe they should move him. He's not a good enough player to grip too tight for the short term (of likely nothing).
For those who want to keep him / sign him, why? Is he really worth investing in (considering the cap implications), instead of someone else who fits better?
