That said, what is the obsession on this site with the desire to trade Brown? I simply do not get it.

Maybe it's just a few with this desire, maybe not. But until Brown comes out and says trade me or the Celtics make a trade including Brown that gets you Jokic, Giannis, Luka, Embiid, Durantetc, these type of players, Jaylen needs to stay on this team for a long time.

We shoulda traded that bum Larry Bird when he wuz worth somethin’. Now he’s got a bad back AND a broken finger! To top it off we’re stuck with not one, but two bigs with foot issues. What’s up with that?

Maybe Bird can shoot 3s with a cockeyed finger but he’s not gonna run the floor with a bad back and McHale’s days of running are over too. Welcome to the Walk-it-up-the-floor-Celtics.

I want to keep him.  It's a GMs job to explore any and all possibilities.  For instance I know you love Brown but if they are offering 6 good firsts plus Giddey I'm pretty sure you would take that deal am I right?

Everyone has a price for the million dollar man.
No. You're wrong.

This team isn't in rebuilding mode. They've done that for almost ten years. Trading away a top 15 scorer and top 25 player in the league for an unproven rookie and 6 lottery tickets when your star will want to win now, is bad business. It will lose you Tatum. It will push a title at least another 5-8 years down the line and most likely more. It's a terrible trade unless you are blowing it all up....meaning trading Tatum too.

So are you saying that Brad won't take calls from Other GMs, and he won't listen to offers for Tatum or Brown.

There is a big difference between some random 1st they own from a good team and one of their own 1sts unprotected, which is why you can't answer this question.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

you're catching on because unless those other GMs are offering Durant, Curry, Embiid, Giannis or Jokic -- which they are not -- then he's not taking the call.

Jaylen Brown this season ranks:  56 (EPM), 45 (EW added), 64 (Raptor) and 48 (WAR).
Well no stat is perfect, it definitely shows a picture that Brown isn't a top 25 player.

His trading value should be really high though, because he's still young, good contract and he plays at a scarce position. So finding a better player available to trade for Brown, who would improve the team isn't easy.

I agree that it doesn't make sense to trade Brown for merely picks.

Some of y’all so crazy.  In truth, Jaylen probably worth about two top ten picks from okc, plus a good prospect (not saying it’s giddy).

Three picks from OKC, and three random picks

However many firsts it is, what if we passed them right along to Washington and pulled this off:

BOS In: Beal, Giddey
OKC In: Brown
WAS In: Horford, Schröder, OKC haul of picks

Clearly nobody can still say we’re making Tatum wait by bringing in his BFF and building a Big 3 around Tatum/Beal/Giddey

Package Nesmith/Langford for Theis, and we’re set for a title run now and to come (with $19 mil. in savings, so no worries about the luxury tax until Giddey’s contract is up in three years):

Giddey/Smart
Beal/Smart
Tatum/Richardson
Theis/G. Williams
Timelord/Freedom

Come the off-season, re-sign Beal, bring in a MLE 5/4, add some ring-chasing vets to fill out the bench, and keep the chemistry going.

Apologies to those who bought a Brown jersey. You’ll eventually get over it when we’re competing for the title again.

Listen, when other Gms call with a blockbuster deal even for one of our beloved Jays. You listen to the offer talk about it with the staff and then politely decline. 99% of the time.

Just listen to the Steve Bulpett interview he basically proves my point that teams are getting ready to make offers for Brown.

If teams are making offers Brad will indeed be listening.

TP for figuring out what I wanted to do with those picks. That's why I wanted 6 or so. Because I want Sabonis as well if we are dealing Brown.

Timelord
Sabonis
Tatum
Beal
Smart/Giddey

Now we are talking.

Haven’t really paid attention to Giddey outside of counting stats. Trading for him plus picks definitely sets us back because we’re giving up the best player in the deal, but it might be one step back, two steps forward?

Again, I haven’t really watched the kid play so I don’t know if he’s a fit here or not.

It's not a real rumor it's just for fun because Okc has 19 firsts sheesh.

IMO this team needs a Tom Brady if you will. A QB to lead the Jays.  There is very few legit floor generals in the league today.

Giddey is a potential one. He's got a great feel for the game.  Lamelo does too he's untouchable tho. Chris paul.is a master and if they celtics would have snagged Paul when he was given away.

The celtics would be in the finals every year. An elite QB would make that much of a difference in Boston.  Right now Marcus Smart is our QB and that's just not good enough.

Giddey can pass and has a great feel for the game but he is not a solid defender and is a dicey shooter.   It would not be worth it, to give up Brown for what amounts to  a poster's draft binkey.
