The Athletic’s take on Boston-Minny rumors (per Jared Weiss) today was this:

Quote
Boston explored a deal that would send Josh Richardson and one of either Romeo Langford and Aaron Nesmith to Minnesota for Malik Beasley, but Minnesota was not interested at the time as they sought to maintain flexibility for bigger moves at the deadline, sources told both myself and The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski.

Josh is the one guy out of the oft mentioned guys we’d trade that I’d want to keep, but I’d definitely consider this deal for Beasley.
question for me is how long ago were the C's discussing that trade.  sounds like something from before Richardson hit his stride with the team.  Right now, I'd want more than Beasley for Richardson.   Beasley's shooting 37.1% and barely 34% from 3 not to mention he's really inconsistent from game to game.   Richardson however is hitting just under 45% and a little over 39% from 3 and giving us more consistency in his game to game scoring.

Richardson wasn't eligible to be traded until two weeks ago, so it probably wasn't in the distant past.  If the Wolves said "no, we want to wait", that to me implies the deal could have been made that day or at least a short time later -- doesn't sound like a discussion from December.
just because he couldn't be traded until 2 weeks ago doesn't mean they weren't discussing that much sooner than that.

No, but the reason the Wolves supposedly gave for declining the offer should lead you to the conclusion it was more recent.  “Minnesota wasn’t interested at the time” because it wanted to preserve deadline flexibility.  That’s not a reason you give in December if the deal can’t be made for a month anyway.

A lot of these rumors, especially the ones involving Smart and Timelord, suggest that the other teams think the Cs will be sellers rather than buyers.  The way that TL and Smart are playing right now make them great compliments to the Jays...

Maybe they hope the Cs will be. Regardless of what our fan base says, we have players on our roster that are valued in the NBA, either as solid role players or good prospects.

Other teams think they smell blood in the water, and with a young GM, they think they will be able to get a valuable player on the cheap. It's not happening.

I very much like Vanderbilt, McDaniels, and -- to a lesser degree -- Nowell.... but it's hard to craft a deal that provides enough value for Smart yet fits both teams. Vanderbilt, in particular, I'd love to have on this team. So would Ime.

Would this have legs?

Cs get: Beverley (bird rights?), Vanderbilt, McDaniels or Nowell, '22 1st Round Pick
Wolves get: Smart, Fernando

Eh. With their anemic offense and shooting I question if they are really both great compliments to the Jays. Brown and Tatum are good enough defensively we don't need two defensive minded players. Our offense sputters because of lack of a third shot creator and shooters with gravity. Having both those guys on the floor makes us really easy to defend.

Of the 87 4-player combinations to have played at least 300 minutes this season, the Smart-Brown-Tatum-Rob Williams combo leads the league in net rating.  I’d say the proof is in the pudding.

Not surprised,  figure Wyc and BS got to get some momentum or serious help for Brown and Tatum.   The team is stuck , Smart , Schroder aren’t the players to take carry the Jays to the next level.

I think they need a true vet guard who ll put points up if necessary and be floor general that is desperately needed.

TP. Our four-men-core is really good. I see no reason to trade any of them.
And for about $85M a year that's not an expensive core either.
I asked somewhere whether the Celtics should be sellers or buyers.
Well, if teams are informing on one of the Smart-Brown-Tatum-Rob Williams combo I'd say: not available.
If the reports are true then it seems Stevens feels the same way.
We should be thankful.

Ps: of course when a player like Jokic, Antetokounmpo, Morant, Doncic or Towns becomes available it's different, but I don't see that happening

So if rumors are true:
Richardson to Utah
Schroeder to Chicago or Cleveland
Smart to minny for Beverly who be a FA

Clearing a lot of space & money for summer but for who?
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

So would that be Beal/Harden?
