I know the Cavs' DPE was mentioned on here somewhere, but here's the first report I remember connecting Schroder to the Cavs:

Quote
The Cleveland Cavaliers might have eyes for Boston Celtics veteran point guard Dennis Schroder ahead of the Feb. 10 NBA trade deadline. “Today they were granted a $9 million disabled-player exception by the league for the Ricky Rubio season-ending ACL. They can use that to trade for a player with one year left on his contract,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said Thursday on NBA Today (5:38 mark). “League executives believe a main target for that will be Dennis Schroder, who fits into that trade exception. Such a trade would potentially take the Celtics below the luxury tax and he could help [the Cavs] on the perimeter.” – via Timothy Rapp @ Bleacher Report

They have a couple of high 2nd round picks, including the Rockets', that would be decent compensation for Dennis. I'd be satisfied if we got one of those back for  him.

I’ve been waiting for them to get the DPE to make this possible.  I was getting worried they hadn’t received it yet.

Would like to see Schoeder for Rondo, Dean Wade, Dylan Windler trade.  With Windler we save about half a mil, without him, about 2.5 mil.  Rondo is expiring, and the two W's both have another year left.
The W's are both HBIQ players, good passers, and "great shooters"!  I watch alot of Cavs BB here in Ohio (no LP), and think these guys would really bring value and skill to our young team.  Believe Cavs do it to get Schroeder as they will be deep in playoff mix this year, and for years to come!

We don't have to take any salary back, because Schroder's salary would fit entirely within their new Disabled Player Exception.  I would have some interest in D. Wade, though.  Gotta love that name, but he's also made 18 starts this year.

We don’t have to take salary back, but the Cavs only have a couple million in room to stay under the tax, so they may ask us to take salary on as part of the deal.

Tricky.  Where are we on the tax, assuming JB doesn't make the All-Star team?

Missing it altogether wouldn’t be the worst. This team has less hope than last year’s (and last year, we didnt have a prayer of getting out of the 1st round).

I wanna see Pritchard get more floor time, I wouldn’t mind Tatum getting shut down towards end of the season (after playoffs + Olympics) and I wouldn’t mind a shot at the lottery, especially with the odds slightly flatter nowadays.

About $900k over.  The Cavs will probably want to send out two players, as that would keep them under the tax and leave them with enough space to afford a buyout with an open roster spot.  My vote is Rondo and Ed Davis, because those two make the minimum, aren’t owed anything next year, and the C’s could get an exception for all of Schröder’s contract.  We’d save enough that we could afford to just cut Fernando.

I'll take Sexton off their hands.  Gladly throw in a 1st or two
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

Do you think Garland is a better "point guard" than Sexton?  Just curious whether Sexton really can play point guard. Guys like Love seemed to really dislike playing with Sexton, insinuating he did not run the offense and was only out for himself.

Wow, no kidding.  So basically Yabu's dead salary.

Yep.  This is why we shouldn’t stretch players unless we really have to.

Sexton is a score first player, but he is talented and he did seem to make improvements distributing the ball last year and I was curios to see if that would have continued with a better Cavs team (they were 7-4 with him before he got hurt so not bad).  Garland is definitely a more traditional pass first PG.  The Cavs played them both because they provided different things.  Garland isn't available though, while Sexton probably is, as Sexton is hurt and enters restricted free agency this summer.  So trading for him would be a risk, it is just a gamble I'd take because his talent far exceeds what you could reasonably expect from some late 1st's.  Which is also why I don't know if the Cavs would make that sort of trade.  They may just let him go to free agency and then match or sign and trade him.
