Look at all the 3pt shooters Atlanta has: Young, Collins, Bagdonovic, Huerter, Hunter, Gallinari... yet they took less 3pt shots than the C’s have. Boston goes 7-36 for a whopping 19%. Same old story... Same strategy every game.

Yeah, you have to coach the players that you have not the ones you don't. Needed the midrange game tonight.

IDK, Maybe go inside to Al once in a while? He’s a good post player and finished the game with 3 shot attempts... Is there something wrong with taking higher percentage shots?
He's also shooting 58.6% from midrange (117.2 ORTG!), so any coach/analyst with a brain would be telling him to bomb away from the heart of the midrange.
I understand wanting to stick with a certain offensive strategy for maybe the first quarter or third of the year, but the C’s are more than halfway through the season and it’s the same garbage offense game after game. They are who they are, not a good 3pt shooting team. Most of the players outside of Tatum and Brown have not been good shooters form deep for their careers. I mean, what are we doing here?   ???
Being incompetent and coping with this **** by searching up stats that are either wonky or are made by the vibe man's lackeys in the coaching industry to convince ourselves that everything is fine >:(

watched on tape delay.  tonight's hot takes
- another game proving the team's offensive philosophy is "live by the 3, die by the 3".  just no variety in their offense.
- too many defensive breakdowns at the end of quarters.  just couldn't stop Atlanta from going on a run at the end of almost every quarter.
- Jaylen and Jayson are still not good ball handlers.  team needs a real ball handler on the floor with them so they don't need to handle it for more than a couple of dribbles before shooting or passing.

Team cannot stand success this season.

Then stop trying to turn them into something they are not and they are never going to be. Neither is a natural playmaker like Gordon Hayward, for example. Just not who they are as players. Effective coaching plays to a team's strengths. Celts keep trying to grind the square peg into a round hole. That is why they are so painful to watch. Never thought Ime would be this bad.

The Hawks were determined to make us a jump shooting team tonight and were successful and rewarded with a sub 20% 3P% and 12 TOs from the Jays.

There were 3, 4, and even 5 Hawks in or 1 step from the paint, collapsing on every drive, and help was cutting off passing lanes. It’s built to force ISO and jump shots.

When the team isn’t making jump shots, the answer shouldn’t be to keep shooting.

Either attack in transition or play bully ball punish the boards. If we’re attacking in transition, Ime has to use the depth and go at least 10-11 deep. Udoka keeps mistrusting the bench and the starters are going to continue to hit the accelerator to find out they don’t have any gas left during the 4th.

That would mean the J's would have to give the ball up and move to then get it back again. And we know that's not gonna happen.

No...sorry we're stuck with the chucker brothers, sometimes they hit um and sometimes they don't. But it's okay, we can beat-up the bad teams and pretend there's hope.

The Jays with 12 TOs really hurt their chances.

Trying to turn your forwards into point guards because you don't have a point guard isn't a winning formula...

Wrong…they do have PGs they just want point forwards.

Jaylen does this thing where he gets himself into traffic and then decides last second hes just gonna throw the ball up to no one in particular and it gets stolen every time. Quite infuriating.

And average Al is basically a traffic cone out there. Hes been terrible finishing around the hoop lately and just non existent on defense. I think at this point in his career hes a back up to Rob and should not be playing pf. Lets try a smaller lineup with Tatum at the 4, he put on 10-15 lbs of muscle this summer for a reason
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

The Celtics are 20-9 when they shoot 34 percent or better from 3-point range as a team. In other words, they have the best winning percentage in the Eastern Conference if they shoot slightly below league average from three or better.

They shot 37.4% last year. I felt this game was gone early because of the TOs and 3FG misses right out of the gate. Fool's Gold comeback as Doc use to call the Q4 rallies.

4-17 from 3 for the Js.

When u don’t have a inside game, u gotta shoot 40 threes a game
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I have been advocating on delegating Al to the bench and moving Tatum to the 4. Tatum is most effective at the 4 as he can exploit mismatches at the position.

HAHAHA that Jaylen observation is so true though and I hate it. I’m glad JB has an unreal ability to convert tough shots, but when he’s on attack mode and not thinking “I’m going to draw defenders and pass”, he is definitely trick or treat.

Mechanical, is probably the best word to describe it. You can see the hours he’s put in. But it’s hard to teach IQ and “feel”

Smart is a PG. Schroder seldom sets the offense and doesn’t see how to get others involved. The change in the offense when he replaces Smart is night and day.

I’m struggling to understand why we do so many possessions when Tatum or Brown starts with the ball in his hands. I guess Ime is force feeding them possessions in hopes they’re going to learn how to initiate the offense, but I’m not seeing how that’s going to work.

Two steps forward one step back. This is a make miss team for our make miss league. Seeing them make 7-36 from 3 for 19%, this team is 3-11 in games where they have shot below .300 from 3 so the odds were against them. Obviously shooting bad doesn't help but they don't know how to grind out wins when they aren't shooting well. I pulled the team box score data from basketball reference.

Incidentally the team is 22-14 when it shoots above .300 from 3.
