Greenly, just so you know, #JKJB was never and will never be an absolutism.
#JKJB was simply my response to the ludicrous trade proposals, the off the wall methodologies for needing to trade Jaylen, the absolutely absurd realities people dreamt up about Jaylen being hated or had no respect in the locker room, the pathetic hatred toward Jaylen for wanting people like himself to be treated equally in the world and for the unreal downplaying of his skills on the court
I got sick of defending Jaylen from this raft of pure negativity. Thread after thread after thread of horrid trade proposals or posts that attacked Jaylen as a man and Celtic. It just got easier to dismiss them with #JKJB Just Keep Jaylen Brown. Because in the long run, it will be worth it.
I stand by that. Would I trade Jaylen? Yup! But for an upgrade. For a player that makes the Celtics clearly, with little doubt, a better team. But I will absolutely throw out #JKJB for every trade that trades our Jaylen Brown dollar bill for 4 quarters, and that is 99.9% of the trade proposals I see on this site.
If you're trading away a 25 year old All-Star averaging over 23 PPG, that's one of the better 2 way wings in the game, a player that has a history of just getting better and better every year and who raises his game even higher in the playoffs, you best be getting someone special back in return.
And that's all I have to say about that!
…. yet you are an absolutist about Brown, like BBallTim was about Rondo.
I have said on several occasions that if the trade was for a Doncic, Steph, Lebron, Giannis, Durant, Jokic, or Davis, I would drive Jaylen to the airport myself. For players like Trae, Jah, KAT, Kawhi, Lillard, LaVine, Mitchell, Zion, Harden, George, I probably make a lot of those trades depending on some other stuff, but I do think that with a lot of those guys it a sideway move due to contracts, injuries and position played. Then there is a bunch super young guys that if you are blowing it up and moving on from both Jays that I would trade Jaylen for.
Most everyone else, nope.
Brad signed Smart, Timelord and Richardson to contracts that add up to some significant salary. Use those guys to trade for that third guy to add to the Jays. That's what those contracts are there for. You keep the Jays because at 23 and 25, they aren't the problem. They are part of the solution.
